I had a flyer from HD telling me that if I spent $299 it would be interest free for a year. I have several projects in the fire so I went and bought all the materials. Kathy's nephew and his girlfriend are coming in on the 4th of September for their annual visit. He always helps me accomplish some of the tasks that take more than one person or tasks I just can't do anymore.
Home Depot register receipt was for $306 after the 10% veterans discount. Three 5 gallon pails of silver roof coating and the brushes to put it on the garage and carport, 64 feet of 1x4 lumber for new facia on the garage. 64 feet of 7" K style aluminum gutter and all the fasteners, downspouts, and hangers. 1 12 foot 2x6 to replace a rafter in the carport, and restocked the assorted deck screws that I always keep on hand.
The ironic part of it all is that I was prompted by the flyer offering the interest free for a year, and I will pay it off in either 2 or 3 months max.
I always have "busy work" to keep me occupied. I have to prime and paint all the wood I bought today so while I am at it and have the paint can open and brushes dirty I might as well paint the railing on the back porch as well as sand and paint the outside of the back door. I drive Kathy crazy because I never want to sit still. I am always looking for something to do. I was thinking today that I was not hyperactive when I was a kid, but I wonder if a person can acquire a hyperactivity disorder in their old age. Haha.

Does anyone else find themselves really feeling isolated and lacking social interaction. Just plain BORED? I am quite sick of just sneaking out of our little corner of the world into the big bad world to shop or go to a doctor's appointment. NY seems to have flattened the curve and is keeping it fairly flat while here in Tennessee they reopened a bit too soon and the numbers climbed again. Being relatively isolated for the most part by the virus seems leaves us with little to discuss other than the pandemic and politics, both of which are a quite depressing and controversial.
Some of you may get sick of reading about "my day" but staying busy is all that keeps me from being bored and somewhat depressed with the inability to interact with folks such as with our bowling league friends. We did hold a small friendly tournament for 12 of us last Thursday night with social distancing and masks. Then 8 of us went to Perkin's for something to eat and some more socializing. Every one was masked going in and anytime we were not seated at our table, and they had set us up tables pulled together so we had two empty chairs between each of us. It was especially good for Kathy since she had not been out of the house in almost 2 weeks.
What do YOU all do to stay busy and keep your mind off the usual nasty political bantering and the depressing pandemic news. Today is on hold while I wait for a telephone appointment with my primary care doctor at the VA. I just got back from doing a bit of shopping at Walgreen's and Food City, and I am sitting here with work to do and time being wasted.
Doctor's call complete. I can finally get outside and get to work doing something productive. Here is hoping that everyone is having a pleasant day.

We had a very nice change of pace day yesterday. With our neighbors we drove to Barb's brother's place on Oneida Lake. Spent an hour or two on a boat ride then spent the rest of the afternoon on their deck overlooking the lake, drinking a couple beers and talking about nothing in particular. Dinner was grilled chicken and steak with a large salad.

Sounds like a great day CB. Since the numbers started ramping back up around here all our friends are as afraid to go in public as we are. We did go to the bowling alley and to Perkins last week and at Perkins our party of 8 was the only group in the back dining room. Kathy's nephew and his girlfriend will be here for a week the first part of next month and my son is coming at the end of September so we will get some relief from the isolation and will enjoy the company.
Today I am just painting the lumber for the facia boards on the garage that we are going to replace and I painted the back porch railing. Just another boring day of busy work to occupy my time and make the day go by faster. Have a good day up there in NY. We are having a nice weather day here. About 85 and sunny with the rain chances increasing tonight and tomorrow. Making hay while the sun shines.

I have had more than enough "social interaction" since March to last me the rest of the year, thankyouverymuch.
Walmart has changed its hours and is now open till 10PM.........much to our dismay. It was nice to be left alone after 8:30 and peel my mask off and really get some work done. Now, I might get about a half hour, forty five minutes before I have to start getting stuff together to head in the back and be out by 10:51.

I really not into social interaction with people. My daily bus rides keep me busy. Im basically just waiting around for death. With limited funds doing anything is very very rare. I like to read a little and or watch certain programs on TV. What else is there to do! I can sit in the park.
I didn't know Walmart is now open to 10PM.

Well life just rapidly went from boring to exciting around here. I was out working in the carport and the neighbor across the street called and told me that his next door neighbor up the hill behind their house was calling for help out her bedroom window. They knew I am a former EMT so I dropped everything, jumped in the truck and flew up there. She had crawled onto her bed, was unconscious and her respirations were very shallow when I arrived. Her pulse was weak and slow. I told her son to call 911. Before they got there I was able to rouse her enough to get her to take a deep breath. I rolled her onto her back and propped her head with a pillow and she began to breathe deeper and better.
Her son is a pot smoking, drunken asswipe. He works nights and with his mom hollering loud enough for a neighbor 100yds away to hear her and him in the next room sleeping. I had to holler at the top of my lungs at him to wake HIM up and get his ass in gear. Then he lost his temper with 911 operator when they asked him pertinent questions. Told the operator he didn't have time for that bullshit and to just get a F'ing ambulance there and hung up on them. I called 911 back, put them on speaker phone and answered their questions while tending to her.
Now I wait for the ER to call me back with her Covid status. She wasn't feverish but I touched her hand and arm while taking her pulse and checked her forehead for a fever. It was such an emergent situation that I jumped in the truck and went up there. No mask. The rescue squad gave me a squirt of hand sanitizer and when I got back home I washed real good and used more sanitizer, then sanitized the wheel in my truck with a clorox wipe.
Yep and I was just talking about how boring life is with the pandemic still pretty active in this area and home isolation the order of the day. Go figure.

Holy what a way to not spend the day, Batman! But you did the right thing & considering the way her idiot son acted it was a good thing you were there. Hats off!

Oh my I hope she didn't have COVID what with you caring for her without a mask and in very close proximity.
Life was exciting here late afternoon. I watched our Cities hawk I don't know which one it was flying over Chancellor Park and in one swift movement went right after a large pigeon grabbed it right in the air then landed and ripped the head right off the damn bird. Beautiful sight.
I guess you will watch Mrs Obama give and opening statement tonight at the Democratic National Socialist Convection tonight. Bet she talks about our American Negro and their plight with freedom LOL

I was thinking today that I was not hyperactive when I was a kid, but I wonder if a person can acquire a hyperactivity disorder in their old age. Haha. I did a little shopping myself today. Our backyard really took a beating this summer with the heat & dry weather & it's getting about time to till & plant some seed. No way I'm going to dig it up by hand & my battery powered hand cultivator just won't hack it so I went to Lowe's a bought a small tiller. It was $199. plust tax but I paid with my Lowe's card so I got an $18. discount. I have to assembly it & it's 2 cycle so we'll see how it works out. Now I have to buy seed & some topsoil, probably from a supplier over on 49 in Marcy. I'm done buying bagged topsoil. I bought 6 bags from Lowe's a few days ago & the stuff was garbage, the stuff was half sand & various sized pebbles. They got me good, but never again.

Are you referring to one of the Peregrine falcons that nest at the gold dome bank? I have seen videos of trained hunting falcons taking prey right out of the air. They are extremely fast and effective hunters.
