The antibiotic must be starting to work. I was able to sleep okay last night. I was exhausted from not sleeping the night before.
I have a website available where I can view my medical info. The doc that saw me yesterday told me that I had bronchitis. Today I was checking my chart to see what she had written on her notes yesterday. Hmmm. I don't have bronchitis. She says I have acute bacterial sinusitis. Make up your mind doc, haha.
I really don't give a damn what I have as long as I feel better. Whatever it is it really kicked my ass the last couple of days. I don't get sick often but whatever it is made me feel more miserable than I have felt in years. I was afraid that it was going to turn out to be one strain or another of the flu.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Not a good time of year to be sick.

I have been off my feed for the last couple of day. I bought lots of fresh veggies the other day and had a hankering for a few celery sticks dipped in ranch dressing. Well, I got to the fridge and ALL those veggies were calling my name. I ended up with a fairly substantial lunch that included about 1/2 dozen celery stick, 1/2 dozen large radishes, 1/2 dozen carrot sticks, and 6 or 8 broccoli florets, all dipped in ranch dressing. It hit the spot. Breakfast is usually my fave but today all I felt like eating was toast and butter and a cup of coffee.
Hmmm. Maybe if I stay sick for a while I will lose a few pounds. lol

It sounds like acute bacterial sinusitis to me.

I felt a little better on Wednesday but yesterday things went down hill and I felt worse than ever. Last night I was wheezing and couldn't breathe laying down. I spent the better part of the night in my recliner. Made another appointment with the doctor for today to make sure that this mess isn't settling into my lungs and turning to pneumonia.
I am not one to be sick. I haven't been down and out sick in years, but this is kicking my ass. I have seldom felt this rotten.

From what I have read this flu season has had a nasty beginning in some parts of the country.

That is one of the reasons I am going back to the doctor. The urgent care tends to run people in and out with a prescription and a wave. My doc retired so I have to see a NP that is filling in until they hire a replacement. As bad as I feel I fear that it MAY be the flu, although I did have a flu shot. I have never in recent memory felt this rotten for this long. The only thing that sort of throws me a bit is the fact that I have not run a high fever. I have occasionally ran a low grade fever in the evening. The highest has been 100 or 101 degrees. Just enough to make a person miserable with chills. Whatever it is, it is hanging on. Last night was a bit scary, not being able to breathe laying down, even with the Cpap. When I got up to move to the recliner I actually opened the back door and sucked in some of the cold night air for a couple of minutes. I have been taking the 100mg Doxycyclene since the 7th and it doesn't seem to be helping much. When we get into our 70's there is no room for procrastinating when it comes to seeing a doctor. I probably would be better by now if I hadn't spent a few weeks drinking daytime liquid cold and flu, and eating Halls Menthol drops like M&Ms

In a good year the flu shot is about 65% effective. Even if the match is not good you will still get some protection. Seniors and kids are most vulnerable.

It still amazes me the people who still refuse to get the flu shot subscribing to the idea that one can get the flu from the vaccine. People can't get it thru their heads that it's a dead virus & it's impossible to actually get the flu from a dead virus. About 10 years ago I missed getting the shot & sure enough i got the flu, was sicker then hell & ended up with bronchitis requiring a trip to Urgent Care & a dose of antibiotics. I haven't missed since, haven't goten the flu either. Nasty cold yes, but not the flu.
Hope you feel better, Clipper.

We learned today that Granddaughter Carrie has been feeling sick and tested positive for Type B flu. That strain can be quite nasty especially for kids. Yes she had her flu shot.

Headed back to the doctor again today. Took the prednisone and Levaquin since Friday and not much change. Feel better most of the day but still get the coughing spells and can't lay down without coughing and wheezing. They said to come in and get an injection of the steroids and antibiotic to see if that can kick start some progress in getting rid of this crap. I am sick of spending most of the night sleeping in my recliner. I certainly can't risk having it turn to pneumonia.

After Carrie tested positive for flu her entire family was prescribed Tamiflu. I didn't know they did that.

After Carrie tested positive for flu her entire family was prescribed Tamiflu. I didn't know they did that. Sounds like a good plan to me. What is that they say? An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure, or something like that? I hope Carrie is feeling better. The flu sure makes ya miserable and it is dangerous.

Sounds like it changed to pneumonia. Especially with not being able to breathe when laying down and also wheezing. It is significant that you had to place your head outside to get some air..... that could indicate low lung oxygen saturation level. You may indeed need oxygen and Ciprofloxacin. Rest and sip on warm chicken bone broth.
It is good they gave you prednisone which will open up the bronchial tubes even the small ones. Did they give you the increasing dosage until you reach a point where enough is needed then a gradual decrease in dosage strength.

From what I have read, this season's flu has been tough on kids.
