The 360 degree cameras are up and running. I've noticed the corners they are on are empty of people. The sub station is also being worked on. Wonder how the locals feel about being filmed, lol.

Or on the other hand........maybe if we all move away we won't need them.
Or the taxes either! ;D
Now there's a thought.

Sh*t, I'll pay for one if they put it on my corner. WATCH OUT YORKVILLE!!!!!! If it makes the undesirables move, you're only a block away from me.

Remember, there's no IQ test required to be a punk. They'll forget about the cameras in a few days.

From someone who used to run the streets of Cornhill, those cameras won't stop crime for long. When I was younger they had the microphones, and the roving police van. Things calmed down for about 2 weeks then it was business as usual. Even if they decide to not make it business as usual, they'll just move locations. The horrible thing about crime is it adapts. All the UPD can do is try to contain it to one area and try to keep that area well patrolled.

I think they should have a armored truck with a telescopic arm with 360 degree camera's and move it around the city - park it in problem areas. But , that's just me !!!

Huh, and in my simplicity I was thinking "Wow, what if the police did their jobs?" and I don't mean the foot soldiers. Remember when Americans just took things to task and got them done? There are good people in that area that could turn things around with help and hope. Utica gives them neither. Utica needs to be PROACTIVE, go in and clean it out!!!! I'm sure there's a grant we can apply for

There was once a great DOJ program in place to do just that. Unfortunately the people balked, the NFP hosting it spent the money on other things besides reinvesting it in the community, alienated the UPD and the Mayor, flushed their Coordinator who was trying to turn it around, and generally screwed the pooch and lost it. To bad.....it was the only self sustaining program DOJ ever created that really worked when properly run. Sad.
