To all:

We would like to kindly ask that you no longer post links to your forum on the uticaOD.com forum site. I am sending this message to you because I believe you are the prime developers of the forum.

We have left the links posted for a while, but we soon will be deleting them all. It is not appropriate for you to advertise your forum on our site. This reached a head the other day when you used the O-D forum to inform your posters that your forum was not working. That was not appropriate.

We congratulate you on developing your own forum and welcome it as another vehicle for public discussion.


Please refrain from doing this in the future on the O-D site.

I haven't replied to him myself, and truth be told, I don't know as if it actually warrants me wasting my time to even bother.

I removed the link in my siggy there, but I noticed that whatever posts he was referring pertaining to yesterday have already been deleted.

They (who ever participated) have been publicly chastised on the OD board for the degradation of several threads there.

I'm posting a topic on the disgrace forum to warn concerned citizens so they don't lose their posts.

Ok, I posted it. Originally I was going to pose fran's comment and then thought it would be too much and I'd end up banned like los.

I replied to Fran Perritano myself, and told him basically that we are not here to destroy or "steal" their readers and posters. I have always maintained that we are an "alternate" site, and that I encourage all of you to continue to read and post over on their page also. I do.

We are not constrained by a corporate office, or by a political slant of our management. We are more loosely moderated and not under such a tight rein of censorship as a corporate page.

I addressed the issue of the Concerned citizens and the continued rants from New Hartford, and they took down those posts, and agreed that they were getting nasty and personal and boring, and the links to their sites dissappeared with the posts.

We will see what happens.

The major point is this. We are here because we got sick of some of the constraints put on our posts by the OD. We are not here to destroy their forum, or to constantly slam their managment of their forum.

I found that when I worked at the OD, there is a heavy hand from corporate that controls editorial freedom and dictates part of their opinion on issues in the news. Fran Perritano is simply doing a job, and has bosses.

For those of us that don't like the OD we don't have to go there. For those of us that want to continue to post on their forums, we will need to respect their wish and opinion that our posting a link to our site is inappropriate, and not post our link there in the future or it will be deleted.

Remember, we have a moderator and administrator function also. Be thankful that our moderation and administration is based on the freedom to be much looser and less contrictive, and that it will be forced to delete or censor occasionally in the interest of good judgement or good taste. We only ask that you take no offense on those occasions and respect our decisions accordingly.

Please don't make this an issue of contention between the two sites or boards. It will serve no purpose other than to tarnish the respectul nature and cooperation on our new page and cause further negativity.

Don;t expect a reply from that asshole. I emailed him several times regarding a warning email he sent me. I demanded an apology in the last email because I was accused of a TOS violation, which I was not. I never got so much as a "piss off" email or anything.

Here is a copy of the email I received, along with the "violating" post referenced in it. The topic had to do with the kid who killed his grandfather recently:

Now, can someone read what is in quotes, which is exactly what I posted, and tell me what allegation I specifically made?

The "inconsistent" moderation and censoring of posts, is why we have this forum to post on. I still encourage folks to post and read their page. While frustrating, it is also informative and follows their daily news items, for those of us out of town and out of touch.

We are lucky to have people on this forum that take the time to bring those items to our page to be discussed with less moderation and a looser format.

As I explained in another post earlier, Fran Perritano has a boss, and on a corporate level, editorial freedom is limited to the views and constraints of the corporate managment's opinions.

All I can tell you, is that if it is not acceptable there, bring it here, and discuss it, LOL.

I guess I should apologize because it was me who originally posted that I couldn't get into this site yesterday. Although I posted it in a thread about Clippers Corner. I didn't start a new thread about not being able to post. Again, sorry I created this problem.
