Human males have evolved. Rather than hump the other to prove superiority, we compare our engine sizes. For example, assuming you drive a Toyota Prius, and I drive an 800-horse power Dodge Viper. You're sitting at the stop light with your rinky dink car. I taxi up on the left lane and rev my engine. You look down in shame as your engine barely makes a noise while you rev yours. The light turns green and I leave a trail of dust behind that dirties up your Prius as it putts along and I approach 170mph. I am grinning and you hang your head in shame...
Two miles later, you're Prius comes putting along at 50 mph. You approach the following scene: my car on the side of the road with the hazards blinking; I'm on my cell phone screaming at AAA to send a guy over with some gas; and no rumble from my 800-horse power engine. Your spirit lifts up and you give me the finger as you putt along past me.

Federal treaties supercede State law so why is this even an issue still?

Yes, exactly. Albanizers have been spending Millions every year to try to effect Federal statutes. A complete waste of their time and our Money. Its like Coumo making a deal with Kadufi. Shake on it all you want, its null and void before the ink is even dry.
Just consider for 5 minutes what Verona would look like Employment wise without the Casino. I don't just mean direct payroll from the Casino, the spin-offs and non-Indian businesses that could not survive without it.
We need to stop fighting the OIN and start working on fixing the region that the We White Man screwed up. Non Indian Gaming directly competing with the OIN would be great place to start, they could authorize that in Albany. Instead they choose to argue a battle that is not theirs to fight!

There is so much that this region could accomplish if it only embraced all the Oneidas have done and their potential for more. The PGA was a prime opportunity. Some of the businesses took advantage, but many fought it. And now, the PGA has pulled out. Too bad too, it generated a lot of revenue for the AREA, not just the Oneidas!

Those that hate the Oneida's will never accept their existence even if Ray himself lugs barrels of Tax money down to Albany personally. The more they fight the success of the OIN, the more we lose as a region.
The Casino started out a little blue pole barn, now its bringing in hundreds of thousands yearly to an area that people would never have visited otherwise. We on the other hand have just stagnated,,,

I remember playing the few machines that they had in the entrance way or lobby to the Bingo Hall on Rt 46. Used to go there with the ex and she and her mother would play bingo while the father in-law and I would play the machines. The major portion of those on the reservation at the time still lived in the mobile home park behind the bingo hall.

I made twice as much money there as I did a Master's level Social Worker. PLUS I only worked about 30 hours a week, & they gave me employer-paid full benefits! What's wrong with that picture???

Clipper, correct, and when I went to school in VVS, they lived in poverty on that little reservation. Nobody cared, called them drunken savages, Injuns, and other derogatory things. The occasional trailer fire turned into a complete loss every-time, the fire department wouldn't even enter the res. Many of those who now are running the TS were in those little trailers.
I hail their arrival, they picked themselves up from the gutter and are now kicking our asses at our own game. Maybe its time we wake up also...

I am a strong advocate for the OIN JR. I hope that they are nothing but successful in all of their endeavors and that the state never makes any inroads into interfering with their enterprises.
I don't smoke, but we do buy some of their gas when we come up there, and we stayed in the Villages at Turning Stone with our fifth wheel the last time we were there, because we got there a day early for our site on the West Canada. Everything they do is done well and has class.
When we lived there we used to gamble there a couple of times a week, and when we had comped rooms, we would spend a weekend lounging, gambling and eating breakfast in bed from room service. Never had a better prime rib than we used to get at the steak house that was at the end of the hallway across from the Chinese place.
Their success in business only goes to show what racism and bigotry had held down for all those years. Those people are motivated and ambitious, and certainly not the lazy drunkards that they were portrayed as.

Halbritter for President!!!!! ;D I wouldn't go that far. I've been saying for a long time now, compete. The old adage, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Legalize gambling in this state and compete. Someone give me a logical explanation why gambling is illegal.

Someone give me a logical explanation why gambling is illegal. I wasn't kidding on that. ;D If gambling was made legal then the politicians couldn't get their hands on all that profit and would have to share what they monopolize now.
