I downloaded and installed an ad blocker and it is fantastic. I was still getting those non responding moments which caused a lag. Now I breeze along. However I have a message in black boldface from proboards where the weather banner used to be saying:
Please consider supporting this website by disabling your ad-blocker. This website does not use audio ads, popups, or other annoyances. Thank you
not gonna happen

I'm all for getting stuff for free, but I've always been amazed at the free software, graphics and information and instruction we receive from the Internet. Proboards is an example of a company that pays employees, buys computer memory and system time to provide a veritable past time for many of us. And it's all free.
I probably won't be sending Proboards a donation either, but I do understand their need for revenue from ads. And it is true they don't use "audio ads, popups, or other annoyances." When I occasionally go to UticaOD.com I can't believe how anyone can stand all the garbage that keeps popping up on the screen. I only visit the OD's site when absolutely necessary.

I agree Dave. I don't find Proboards ads overwhelming. I tend to avoid sites which have intrusive ads or auto-play videos or pop-up windows. I don't usually go to the OD site since I'm a subscriber. I tried using it on this trip and found it much less friendly than it used to be.

If you subscribe to the OD paper or online e-edition once you sign in there are no ads that will bother you or pop ups etc. I use it for I-Spy and photo's and to make comments. I read the e--edition . It is much cheaper than the newspaper delivered to you door.
I like this ad blocker I don't have to bother looking at any advertisements of any kind even those automatic video's that seem to be used on every website I use.
The new Edge Browser when it is rolled out will have an ad blocker installed. Apparently Facebook doesn't like that. LOL.
