Over the past two weeks every time I try to go to another thread or post and when I want to comment or even make a post it takes forever for the commercial and weather banner to load and I always get a not responding message in the tab window of proboards. It is getting very frustrating. Is anyone else having the same problem. I was wondering if it has anything to do with using Edge.

I just tried it on Edge and it did seem slow to load and log on. I haven't used Edge much even though it's been almost 10 months since I first downloaded Win 10 to my little netbook. This notebook came with Win 10 & Edge but I've stuck with Firefox for my daily use. Have you tried Firefox or Chrome to see if it makes a difference?

I'm not having a problem here. Using Firefox mostly when visiting the forum.

CB I just use Edge. It works for everything else I do. I hate having to set up another browser. Maybe I will give it a try to see. I got the not responding note again just now.

I use only Firefox for a browser and I occasionally have it fail to respond. It has not happened on a regular basis nor has it really caused me much inconvenience. I recently have been getting a message in the center of the screen telling me to update my Firefox but the message is not from Mozzilla so I ignore it. Either you guys or my local guru told me not to click on updates unless the prompt appears in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. I noticed that within the URL for the update "ad" is included, which makes me suspect it is some spammy crap or malware. It cost me $100 the last time I clicked on an Adobe Flashplayer update that appeared in the center of my screen. It turned out to be malware that hijacked my email password and locked me out of my own mail account, forcing me to have the entire hard drive wiped and redone.
My local computer technician told me to stay away from Edge until they have worked out some of the bugs. He said he has seen some problems with Edge being VERY slow to respond and also other little bugs that he says are aggravating.

Alan, you have probably mentioned it in the past but my memory is becoming more Swiss cheese like. Who is your internet provider? I have Time Warner using their modem but my own wireless router. Recently TW has been doing work in my neighborhood which seems to cause random data slowdowns. This morning when the munchkins were watching TV Disney Jr was badly pixilated but Nick was just fine.
Of course when my house is full of kids, kids-in-law and grandkids we could have as many as 4 TVs, 4 or 5 tablets, a couple computers and as many cell phones as adults all trying to suck data from the same pipe. I can't imagine why there would be a slow down.
Speaking of grand children, you could probably rent my youngest grandson cheaply this morning. He is trying to transition from two naps to one. He just had a melt down because he wanted something but didn't know the words for what he wanted. Plus the tablet I let him use wouldn't do what he wanted. I guess there are times when I have the same problems.

Can't get the spell checker to work although I have been gone for awhile and may be doing some wrong.

I am also unable to use the spell checker function D-D. I get an error message that it is not available on this server or something like that when I try to spell check. Possibly Ralph can tell us what the story is. He is quite familiar with Proboards.

CB I know sorry that I am complaining. I think we've both been around the block enough on this board that we needn't worry about offending or taking offense. There are days when I'm a grumpy old man. All of my grandchildren are dear to me and Keith the Youngest may someday be the one who is most like me. However there are days when both Grandpa and grandson need a nap.

Gee CB, the movie "The Grumpy Old Men" was based on a couple of old timers from Minnesota, but you are not old enough for the movie to be based on you. It seems as we age that the days grow longer as our patience grows shorter.

The damn proboards still loads slow and I always get the notice that says not responding. Spell checker doesn't work. Sometime I have something to post and I don't because it takes so long.

Spell check won't work for me either, though I rely mostly on the spell check function in Firefox. I'll try looking into it over my days off here and see what I can find. It may be a broken link at ProBoards.
As to the board loading slowly, I have no clue. I have noticed that things have been moving slower on the internet over the course of the last few weeks. I attribute this to the influx of kids suddenly out of school across the country sucking up bandwidth now that they're home. And remember, all those "smart phones" are using the internet as well. I also feel that some of the ISPs in the area, or at least Verizion, have deliberately cut the speed on some services over the past year in an effort to make folks upgrade to a faster bandwidth. Things that used to load for me fairly fast now seem to drag on longer that they used to. I have seen this regardless what PC I am using here. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it just drags. I have also seen enhanced and more heavy ActiveX engaged advertising on sites, which will cause sites to load slower. Roll all of the particulars together and it's a frustrating conundrum of just "what" is causing it.
