I love blueberries. I once lived on the Point Rock Road, outside Lee Center. The area was blessed with an abundance of wild blueberries. We would turn the boys loose with 3 pound coffee cans and they would come home with3 or 4 quarts of berries. The ex-wife would often mix the berries into a yellow cake mix that would turn out tasting like a big blueberry muffin. I remember she tossed the berries in flour before she put them in the cake batter, saying that it kept them from sinking to the bottom of the pan when she baked it. Kathy does not like blueberries so my blueberry fix has to come from a store bought muffin from the bakery section at Kroger's or an occasional slab of blueberry pie at a diner or restaurant. We used to eat at Perkin's after bowling quite often. They have a wonderful selection of freshly baked muffins. They are huge and delicious. I always bought one muffin for me and one of their large chocolate chip cookies for Kathy when I cashed out. With all the other wonderful baked goods that Kathy makes, I really can't complain when she steers away from blueberries. Her pie crust is to die for, and she makes a heavenly and sky high apple pie with the bushel of apples that we purchase every year from an orchard in North Carolina on our way home from the casino in Cherokee. By fall, we have plenty of prepared apples and strawberries in the freezer to carry us through the winter. She has prepped and froze 12 quarts of strawberries so far and I will bring her another 4 quarts today if the stand is still open. The strawberry season is winding down here and the stand may very well be gone when I go over there. Great photos Alan. You managed to stimulate my saliva glands. I am now wanting a nice muffin and a hot cup of java.

I love blueberries too. I see people picking some kind of berries in the woods around the Barge Canal. It is funny because every once in a while I see an arm reach up from the ravine near the road.

Blueberries are one of the few carbs I still consume on a regular basis, 1/4 cup 3 or 4 times per week mixed with full fat Greek yogurt and about 1/4 cup of mixed nuts.

That sounds good Clarence. I shall try that. Kathy won't have to bake anything. She is going crazy with no oven. The oven on the range quit heating the other day. We went to Sears and she picked out a new GE range. I was here in the living room and I heard her grumbling and cussing out the stove. She had peaches and the batter ready for peach cobbler ready for the oven and when she opened the door, the oven was cold. Parts would be $150 plus the service call to have the circuit board replaced. A new stove was only $400. New stove will arrive on Monday. We are fortunate to have the travel trailer in the driveway. I simply went out and turned on the AC, rolled out the slide, and opened the valve on the propane cylinders so she could bake the cobbler in the trailer oven. She was quite comfy out there, sitting in one of the recliners, reading the newspaper while her cobbler baked.

I also season the mixture with a generous shake of cinnamon because I like the taste.
