I can't stand that idiot or his idiot wife and her family. Last year I was watching the news on TV and a fast shot of him was taken as he and his wife were entering I think it was an award event and he was caught taking a swig out of a bottle of Jack Daniels that he was carrying with him.

I don't know what has happened to the music world, but just this morning I was left shaking my head when Puff Daddy performed on the plaza during the Today show. His pants were hanging low and one of the backup singers had pants so low that they were BELOW the cheeks of his ass, not half way down the cheeks. I also had never figured out why their hand keeps going to their crotch. I think I finally have the answer. They have to continue to fondle themselves in order to maintain the semi-erection that is the only thing holding the moron's pants up. The drummer simply keeps a rhythm pounding while they chant the words to their rap. Hell, I could be a drummer for a rap singer. No talent required. I have never held a drumstick in my hands other than a chicken leg and I could play the drums for Puff Daddy and his group. LOL.

My daughter posted this today. Said it reminded her of her Grandfather.
There is still some good music being made.

Yes there IS still some good music being made. Thank goodness there is still good jazz, and other various genres available. I find myself turning away from country somewhat in recent years. I still enjoy Harry Connick Jr, Michael Buble', and others, and still listen to my older CD's of Whitney Houston, Carly Simon, and others. I have the oldies punched in on the Satellite radio in the truck as well as the classic music stations. The satellite radio offers stations dedicated to music by decade. I have the 40's, 50's and 60's selected on my truck radio. After that, in my humble opinion, the music started going down hill. I love the link you provided Clarence. Musical scores from Broadway shows still provide good music. I have also always liked listening to the older music from the musicals of our day. Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, Music Man, Hello Dolly, etc.

I got up and went to living room to turn on Today Show while I was making coffee. I looked for about 30 seconds and said can't stand that crap and switched TV to Channel 10 News TWC.

The above comments prove one thing... 'Show Business Works!' Whether the comments are positive or negative, whether you love or hate someone or a particular show, you're listening to the program and are being exposed to the advertiser's message. They love it...that's just what they want. Word-of-mouth advertising (good or bad) makes other people listen to, or watch, the program and make comments of their own...all the while hearing the advertiser's messages.

Advertisers don't get any attention from me. I mute the commercials or flip while they are on. We seem to be rapidly approaching a time when the commercials will occupy more air time than the program they are sponsoring. Kathy and I counted commercials not long ago during prime time and at one point eleven commercials aired after only 12 minutes of viewing the actual program. For that reason, we watch a lot of PBS, National Geographic Channel, History Channel, where programming dominates over commercial time.

You're right, Kit. In that game, it's publicity at any cost. Good or bad. Bad actually works quicker and probably makes more money.
Clipper, it's true you and I flip to another channel, but you and I are not in the audience group the advertisers are looking for. Their target audience is often age 18-34, who will change brands to buy their product and who like to spend money on what's popular. At our age we don't care what's popular and we're often loyal to brands we've used for years.
