I tend to log on then go other places or just shut down and come back later. Does the website still show me online as long as I'm logged in or do I have to be accessed to Clippers Corner to show up?

Yeah, if you're logged in you show up as being here. :-)

Yeah, I'll leave a tab open with Clipper's Corner, another for the OD.com and maybe a third for Topix.com.
By then, Firefox has gobbled up about a Gig of RAM.

Hell no. 3 gigahertz Pentium, but not a dual core.
Actually, right now, with three tabs open, Firefox is using up 100 meg of RAM, a little less than iTunes ::sigh::
With Word and Corel Photopaint, I'm filling up a Gig. It's been a few days since my last reboot -- I'm due soon.
I'm in no mood to buy a faster machine right now. Nor do I relish the thought of reformatting and reinstalling XP. But this install is about 3 years old and I think I'm overdue.

Oh Hell Frank....and more RAM! Works for me! ;D
Though when I open Photoshop it sucks up resources big time as well!

I like linux! No reboot issues, efficient memory management, etc.
