I am not a musician. I never even played one on TV. Nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Seriously, as musicians, what is the consensus of opinion concerning the talents of this fellow Beck? I have never listened to his music, and probably won't get around to it any time in the near future as his music is not the concern I have in mind right now. He seems like a humble and talented man, who writes his own music, and obviously has won over those that vote for those that will receive the awards. What IS on my mind is the disgusting interruption by Kanye West, who once again upset the apple cart and diminished the moment in the spotlight for poor Mr. Beck.
I am still stuck in the 60's, listening to, and enjoying the music that YOU GUYS that are members of the forum played. My CD collection in my truck is pretty much confined to 50's and 60's oldies, Doowop, and country western. I really cannot get excited about the major portion of today's popular music. The preselected stations on my radio are tuned to satellite stations that play uninterrupted 50's and 60's and old time country on Sirius XM, and FM talk radio stations.
I find this Kanye West character to be a disgusting, mean spirited waste of flesh. I am surprised that they have not simply banned him from the award ceremony based on his past performance when he made an ass of himself as Taylor Swift was being recognized and awarded. He sees himself as a great musician and music critic, but I see only a disgusting racist jackass. Do any of you as musicians see any redeeming features in Kanye OR his music? I have to admit that not only have I not listened to any of Beck's music, but also have never and WOULD never listen to Kanye Wests genre. It simply assaults my ears to listen to rap and hip hop, as biased as that may seem. He simply seems like a self important, legend in his own mind with a personality even more abrasive than my own, lol.
