I was never a rabid Elvis fan, and always preferred Ricky Nelson's music to that of Elvis Presley. I remember many school dances and sock hops, dancing to his music.

Wow Clarence. THAT one brings back some memories. I had a Brownie 8mm Movie camera, and also a Brownie Hawkeye flash camera. I was at Walgreen's the day after Christmas and there was a woman there getting a roll of Kodak 126 film developed and printed. I didn't realize that you could still buy that film or a camera that would use it, and secondly, I was surprised that the modern processing machine that they use at Walgreens was equipped to develop and print it. I guess I just assumed that 35mm was the only film that was used anymore. I wonder if they still sell the little cartridges that we used to buy for a little cheap Kodak camera I had at one time. DO you remember the "Starflash" with the flash built into the top half of the camera face? I saw one of those at a yard sale not long ago. My gosh, I think it was in the early 60's that I received one of those for Christmas from my parents. I used it to take photos of my senior trip to Washington DC.
I guess we had our problems back then, as we do today, but life sure seemed much easier back then. The cold war was our only worry, and hiding under our desk during air raid drills in school was somewhat scary, as fearing a nuclear attack from Russia was the only major world threat back then.

Those were my two favorites ... Garden Party and Travelin' Man. Ricky suffered an unfortunate demise when his leased DC-3 (previously dumped by Jerry Lee Lewis who considered the plane dangerous) crashed in Texas.

Ricky suffered an unfortunate demise when his leased DC-3 (previously dumped by Jerry Lee Lewis who considered the plane dangerous) crashed in Texas. I liked those songs to. I didn't like Elvis music but I always enjoyed Saint John Denver's music. He died in a crash too. Declared Saint by me.

I also liked John Denver's music. I remember reading at the time of his crash that he was not supposed to be flying because they had revoked his medical certificate due to his alcohol history. I also remember that they had to use fingerprints to identify his body. He must have been pretty banged up. I think he crashed into the water did he not? One would think that the damage to his body would be much more likely if he had flown into the side of a mountain or something. I remember that he struggled with alcoholism over the years, as do so many celebrities. I guess that can be attributed to the touring lifestyle and the rigors of living on the road so much. It was a great loss to the music world. He had a great voice and style.
Our entertainers seem to end their lives in tragic ways. I liked Sonny and Cher's music back in the day. Poor Sonny Bono's life was ended by crashing into a tree while skiing if I remember correctly. Cher is still hanging in there, although she is way past her prime and still tries to hold on to the role of a sex symbol. Now her attempts border on elder porn when she appears half dressed, LOL. I would have rather seen Betty White in a bikini than Cher in some of the ridiculous outfits she wears. Too many miles on that old chassis. Rode hard and put away wet. Not a clean one owner any more.

Betty White in a bikini, OMG. Cast that image out of my mind. I bet she would do it or already has. LOL

Betty White in a bikini would be an acceptable sight compared to Joan Rivers in a thong. haha Now that would be enough to put a man off his feed for a day or two. Must be something in the air today. I have this insane need to gross you out with images that will leave you having nightmares about elderly bods in revealing outfits. LOL

But the all time great is Tina Turner. She's smart enough to surround herself with younger beauties, as can be seen below in what has become her signature performance of Proud Mary. Done in 2009 when she was 70 years old. Wow! I'm not sure I could stand that long, let alone jump and dance! And to think she also survived Ike (her husband, not the President.)

To put this in context she is older than Joe Biden and old enough to have been Hillary's baby sitter.

Tina Turner still has fantastic legs. Especially for a woman 75 years old. She still looks great in a short skirt and can still belt out Proud Mary as well.
