chris any Doctor will tell you it is not a good habit to watch TV in bed before falling asleep. You will never achieve REM sleep then you will be tired the next day only to fall asleep in your favorite chair in your living room. Then you go to bed and watch TV again and the cycle just repeats itself.

Wouldn't it be great if we one day had wireless cable connections (if that is at all possible) What was it that Joan Crawford said...."no more wires" (hangers)

Chris, what you are requesting is not quite available but depending on your viewing habits you can come close. One of my daughters uses basic cable plus a Netflix subscription they route through their Xbox. You could do something similar with a set top antenna and a Wifi device like Roku or Chromecast. You local stations are probably not be available over the internet. However if what I wanted to watch WKTV news programming, it is streamed live. National and cable network programming is available through services like Hulu Plus or Netflix but normally after some delay.

I wished for it and got it. (I wished I could just plug and play) Yayyyy!!! and thank you all for your help. I went to Radio Shack and asked for the cheapest antennae (14.99 +tx) Just plugged the antennae in , the tv to the outlet and turned it on and bingo. Picture is beautiful...thought it might be snowy but it actually comes in nicer than with cable. (later I'll actually go and see what/how many channels it gets...looked like about 4 that I buzzed thru trying it out)

I would not be surprised if you get a fairly wide selection of channels with that antenna. We have a similar HD antenna on the new trailer, except it is roof mounted so I can crank it up and down for transport. We are in between mountains here and pretty much surrounded by hills here in the hollow. I can't get a cell phone signal inside the house because of the hills around us. We get 12 or 14 channels as clear as a bell with the trailer parked in the driveway. I am sure that in an area like Rochester you will find many more channels if you can simply set the tv menu to scan for channels. It would not surprise me if you even got some Canadian stations.

Your right Clipper...I program searched the channels and get lots more than I expected. Couple of interesting things with this TV.. The other day I went to turn my TV on and both TV's went on simutaneosly (maybe my Mom is joking with me) I was pointing the remote at my TV not the antennae one (Mom's TV) I left it on the table near by and haven't moved it yet since I brought it home. Spooky. Also the PBS channels 21-1, 21-2, 21-3 come in on my cable pixalized or sometimes it says weak signal and nothing.. Now it is supposed to come with my cable pkg so not sure why this is happening. The TV hooked up to antennae comes on loud and clear no issues.

Chris, that generally means a weak signal or a bad connection somewhere. Since you are not getting the service for which you are paying let them figure it out. The service guy can measure signal strength, replace connectors or lengths of cable to make it right.

I agree Clarence. We had that problem at one point, and the technician replaced the entire cable drop of about 75 yards from the house to the pole in a field across the road in a field. They replaced it with a larger coaxial cable and put some sort of booster at the pole from what I was told. I have always been amazed that the cable runs so far without an additional pole.

I would like to know if anyone can help as I have never used a forum before & must apologize ahead of time if I am not doing normal protocol. I went to Radio shack for this information only to be told it was not possible. However as an old Star Trek fan I do not believe in a no win scenario. Anyway I recently bought a Samsung 24 inch television & can not seem to be able to do what I was doing with my old analog TV! I have a video recorder, DVD player, DVD burner, Video Stabilizer, & RF Modulator. What I want to do is 1. Watch DVD's 2. Watch VHS Tapes 3. Watch TV. Now here is where it gets tricky but I was able to do this on my other TV: I want to burn DVD to DVD & VHS to DVD. Now someone Please tell me how I can do this I know you will most probably need more info. Please just ask
Thank you

Larry 1212, you are welcome to join this forum. All you have to do is register and we will approve your membership. Then all that you have to do is log in and you can post to ALL of the forum, including the sections that are designated as "member only."
Your question is better answered by someone other than myself. Possibly Ralph, Clarence or Dave.

Larry, don't worry about violating protocols, there really aren't any. There is a posted list of rules but I think they can be sumarized as "Play Nice."
I assume you know how to operate your DVD burner and you are looking to convert things like old VHS tapes into a more modern format. If I'm wrong let us know & we will approach from a different angle. One cautionary note, from what I've read recordable DVDs & CDs are not permanent storage, perhaps 5-10 years. Write once discs are probably longer lasting than the re-recordable ones.
Your basic set-up should be something like output from device being recorded to input of DVD burner then output of DVD burner to TV set. (If it's necessary to go into more detail post questions). Then from output of DVD burner to TV so you can monitor what's being recorded.
Does your DVD burner have multiple inputs so you connect up more than one source? If not you have a couple options: switch cables when you want to connect to a different source or get a video switch to allow you to switch from one input source to another.
Is that enough to allow you to formulate more questions?

Ive been doing good up until a week ago. One of the shopping channels (HSN) was working with the antennae but now I just get picture nice and clear but the sound disappeared. Not sure why.
Also my bldg is dropping Basic and only making Standard available with total of 75 channels. It will be an increase of 23.00 for me. (not too happy why this happened. My guess is the apt complex made some sort of deal with TWC. I asked the ofc if they had a list of the channels and they didn't. I have a feeling I probably won't get one either. Maybe I should write to FCC. I think if I am paying for something I should be given the details of what it is I am paying for. Also when I asked for list the girl in the office said it will be 39 channels. 39 or 75 which is it. Makes me want to persue this even more now.
