I have Frontier as my ISP. Some time ago they moved to Yahoo so it's powered by Yahoo. I always had my local weather on the homepage. (just came that way) The other day I noticed that on the homepage the local weather was Albany. There is no way to change this. I have tried editing it and it lets me add another location but I can't save it so when I log off the internet and log back on back to Albany it goes. I called my tech support here and he said he was not able to change it that I had to contact Yahoo. Has anyone ever attempted to contact Yahoo and be able to actually find someplace you can get help on. They are as bad as trying to contact Google for issues.
So if anyone here knows how to do this can they give me some instructions to change this. I don't live in Albany don't understand how it thinks I am there. I want my local Rochester weather back on my homepage. Oh and I am using Mozilla.

I am not completely sure Chris. It seems that if you are seeing Yahoo's homepage when you turn your computer on, you should be able to change your homepage. I use Mozilla Firefox, and my homepage is the MSN News page. The local weather does appear on that page for me. I have opened websites to read one thing or another on occasion and got a prompt that asked me if I wanted to make Yahoo my homepage. I simply click on NO and don't bother reading whatever it was I was seeking to look at.

So does mine. It must read the location ZipCode from somewhere on the computer and give the weather for that ZipCode. Any chance your computer once lived in Albany?

It gets your location from your IP address. Chris, your account may be interconnected to an Albany IP. On my web page counters I see friends in one town show up as being from another town miles away. You could try to regenerate your IP number by turning off your router (just pull the power plug out), saying three Hail Mary's (or count to 30 slowly) and then re-power the router. But if you're being interconnected with Albany, it probably won't help.

Re your IP address:Type "my ip" (without the quotes) into your Google search line. You'll get a number, like 64.150.134.220Go to a place like: whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookupPut your IP number in and and press "Look Up IP Address." Much better for getting out of the woods than by looking where the moss grows on the trees.

I checked the what is my IP address (50.48.150.154) and it sees me in Rochester NY. (as it always did) Now homepage sees me in Albany. Dave this computer always lived in Rochester, never went to Albany. Born and raised here (ha) You may be right that Frontier maybe tied to something in Albany but I still think it should show correct information or allow you to edit it.

Missouri is as pretty state. Chris, what do you mean by your homepage. Is it a page I can go to? If so, what is it's url? I can look at the html code if I can bring up the page. I'm not an expert, but maybe I can see what's giving you Albany weather.
