From a Kim Komando newsletter
Beware of this sneaky watering hole attackI've been talking quite a bit about watering hole attacks lately. If you haven't heard me talk about it, a watering hole attack is where hackers slip malicious code into a legitimate site. For example, Yahoo made the news recently after hackers got malicious code into ads on the Yahoo home page and infected thousands of visitors. Well, just yesterday as I was browsing the Internet gathering information for the show, I stumbled across a watering hole. It opened a new tab in my browser without me touching anything. And it displayed a very tricky message; it even got me to do a double take. I did some research and this same message is suddenly showing up for a lot of people. You need to know what it says before it tricks you. Fortunately, I got a screenshot so you can see what it looks like. www.komando.com/tips/index.aspx?id=15950&utm_medium=nl&utm_source=totd&utm_content=2014-01-28-article-1-end-b&page=1 1 2 3 4 Next > Envelope with paperGet My Free Newsletters

That happened to me but I went ahead and clicked on it cause it said I needed to update my internet explorer edition. Now everday I get a new window openning telling me I need new xp drivers and other things. I tried getting rid of it using Mc Afee but it didn't work. I put each internet address in my do not allow box in privacy options but that doesn't work. I have about 5 now. I just went to check them but the addresses are not there. I wonder if they are in the fake page. Well anyway I am glad they are on my PC cause this thing is on its way out.

I haven't gotten one that looked like that but I have in the past recieved messages that says my browser is out of date. When I looked to see what browser I had (because I was pretty sure I had the browser they said I needed to update to) it was up todate. (I never did do the updates) These always on Yahoo. Yahoo drives me crazy as a browser but my ISP went from Frontier.com to Yahoo.Frontier.com.
I recently had Microsoft essentials put on my PC by Microsoft. This morning I went to go on the internet and Firefox would not open. Then I noticed my Microsoft essentials was turned off. As soon as I updated it went back on . Does anyone know if this is normal process. I think I need to get rid of Essentials.
