Earlier this morning I was on my iPod and got an ad in one of my games for Kindle App. You could not use Kindle on an iPod before so I figured since it was being advertised I'd follow link and see what happened. Sure enough I can now use Kindle. There were some books that were not available thru iTunes so I guess I now have access to both. Good move iTunes.

Interesting. In my immediate family we have Kindles, Nooks, an iPad and a SONY Reader. Nook (Barnes & Noble) has publicly made their platform available to SONY and Kindle reader aps as well as the Google Store. Amazon (Kindle) has made their reader ap available on multiple platforms. Apple has tended to remain separate. I'll have to ask my son if he has a Kindle ap for his iPad (I expect the answer to be, "Oh yeah, I've had it for a year.")
Among publishers, Baen Publishing has insisted that its eBooks be sold without DRM (digital rights managment) making them readable on most platforms.
