Well, I was just checking out the forum homepage and at the bottom where it lists the number of people that are on-line, as well as the number and names of those that have signed on in the last 24 hours.
It shows Alan's name in blue, just like the rest of the names, but next to Alan's name, in parenthesis in black, it say "invisible." It looks like Alan has found the secret to remaining present while avoiding detection by the human eye.

I think what you saw was for your eyes only (administrator) We don't get to see that. But when I read your post I scrolled to the bottom of the page which had some envelope with a 1 next to it. So I clicked on it and it brought me to a page where another forum I belonged to on Proboards was listed and I had an old message that I finally responded to. So I learned something new thanks to you Clipper. Now I have to see if the same is on my PC I was on my ipod viewing. BTW just spent from 1:40 to 4:50 at my PC while Microsoft was cleaning out a Trojan they found. I had called my ISP about my IE and they directed me to call Microsoft. That only cost me 150.00 with 3 months support. Trojan was crs.exe. Was not expecting to do that today. Then after I signed off on it in one of their downloads I read WinXP will not be supported as of April 8, 2014. I probably should have held off till around then and applied the 150.00 towards a new PC instead. (just looked out the window and the world disappeared. It's a snowing and a blowing out there)

I didn't realize that only admin could see that info at the bottom of the page. It tells me how many were on in the last twenty four hours, as well as who was on by screen name. I also see a place that tells me how many members, guests, and staff are on at any given time. Does everyone see that part?

Yes ...checked it out. I clicked on Proboards where it says this Forum hosted for free by Proboards. This brought me to a "dashboard" where both forums I belong to are listed. Very interesting. Hmmmmmmmm.

I see the Users Online and Users Online in the Last 24 Hours with a breakdown to staff, members and guests and then a list of user names. However when I looked at this when you first posted it the number of users in the past 24 did not match the list. I clicked on "members" and the member not listed was Dave. Puzzling since he is almost always in the past 24 list.

Well, it's 11 PM and the members on line in the last 24 is listed as six, and Dave is listed third on the list. That strange little "invisible" in black type is next to Dave's name now. I am simply curious what the hell that is all about. Strange to say the least.

I made myself invisible to try it and forgot to out myself. I'll change it back. Who would want to be on here in secret?
I haven't tried the following since I was doing a lot of work with the More Stories Proboards forum, but I used to be able to click on visitors and get a list of ip numbers. I was always fascinated by the number of 180's from Indonesia. They work like hell trying to get on to forums to use them for spam.
Re CB's comment. I would not have been on "now" when he looked, because as I mentioned at that point I was still invisible, but I should have been on the list of "on in past 24 hours" since in the past 24 hours I was on "in the clear" or visible. Interesting.
By the way, I usually show "on line" all the time because I never sign out after logging on in the morning. I may not come back to check the forum for hours or all day, but Proboards doesn't seem to log you off after so many hours. It must do so overnight, however. Would there be a reason to log off?

By the way, as just a regular member, here's what I see at the bottom of the forum.

Yeah I see all that to Dave. I stay logged on sometimes for weeks at a time. You are not logged off unless you do it manually.
I was wondering what the invisible-visible thibk was all about. So being curious I gave a try to it. When I looked to the page at the bottom nothing happened. Forgot to change it but I did log off. I logged on now and saw my name with the work invisible in prosthesis, how silly I thought. Shouldn't not it be just no name appearing at all.
I did not know that XP will not be supported after April 8, 2014. That is in a few months. Hope I can still use my PC cause that it what I use. Can I download the Chrome or the Firefoxy. I looks like my PC is slowly destroying itself as it is. It takes about five minutes for a new page to load and if I try to read some newspapers like Huffington Post I crash.
