This is a genre of music I have not followed. My friend Mike sent me a link and I certainly have to admire the technical proficiency.

Now for some Hungarian goulash. He looks so young to be so gifted with the guitar.

Kinda sounds like Hendrix. So called Classical Guitar would be much more difficult, I think, than this. And Classical is ordinarily done without benefit of an effects chain.

The finger work was great, but I didn't especially like the resulting sound. Of course I am no expert on music having simply learned to pick chords on a guitar many years ago. Sounded like "irritating noise" to me, but then again, I like country western and bluegrass, hahaha!

Here's some modern country, unless you're a hold-out for the classic country sound. I like this. If I played guitar, I'd strive for what these two guys can do (and never make it.)
John Mayer and Keith Urban.

I love Keith Urban's music. We heard him in concert in Knoxville a couple of years ago.
I have been told that the noise they call "rock" at the present time, takes talent to play. To me it simply sounds like they are pounding on the guitar and screaming at the top of their lungs.

Any of you older folks (which, of course, includes me) remember when singers smiled when they sang? This instilled a nice feeling and the singer looked confident and pleased with his/her work.
Nowadays many singers, even the gospel singers, scrunch up their face into a grimace and make it look like it's actually painful to sing their song. Makes one think that applause at the end of the song is out of pity (and for some of us, it is).
And whatever happened to the purity of the sound of an electric guitar like Django Reinhardt, Chet Atkins, and Les Paul used to play? To be popular nowadays, the sound has to be distorted, reverbed, putrified and the volume set to the threshold of pain. Maybe it's just me in my advancing years.
Actually, didn't our parents complain about Rock-N-Roll when it first came out? We loved it - they hated it. So I guess we've come full circle and I'm just like they were back in the 50s. Perhaps this post would be more appropriate in the 'Be-Bop' thread, but it works here, too.

I Don't know about all of the modern musicians. Mayer's sound in pretty clean on this one.
