met up with long time musician and friend, Joe LaPaglia. I told Joe about Clipper's Corner and all the guys who have been posting. His eyes lit up hearing about y'all, so don't be surprised if ya hear from him. I remember playing a wedding with Joe at Massoud's. It turned out to be a nightmare. What ever time we were supposed to start playing we were still looking for the drummer. Finally found him at DanDee's on Mohawk Street. I guess we made it through the job, but it wasn't easy. Joe's a good man on the organ, and hope he joins us here on Clippers. Perhaps he has a photo or two he would share with us.

Konigs Win Park Dance
A New Hartford sister-brother dance competition won first prize last night at the Parkway teenage record hop.
Karen Konig 13, and her brother Larry, 15, whose father is Herman F. Konig, General Electric Co.'s general manager of the French Rd. plant, earned the right to compete in the state teenage dance championships to be held Sept. 5 at the State Fair in Syracuse.
More than 3,000 teenage fans, one of the largest crowds of the season attended.
Occupying the band stand was Lawrence Luizzi's Orchestra with his vocalist, Pat Santa-Croce.
The Graytones, popular local teenage dance combo, provided some of the entertainment.
Judging the contest were Aldermen, Joseph Peters and Fran Trino.
In addition to the trip to Syracuse, the Konig youngsters were awarded $7. The four other couples were awarded $2.
They are:
Second, Gail Ferris, 18 of 158 Proctor Blvd, and Holly Tillson, 18, of 51 Emerson Ave; third, Linda Minor, 14, of A-8 Gilmore Village and Eleanor Reeves, 17 of 186 N. Genesee St.; forth Rosalie Mikus, 17, of W. Cooper St. and George Pilenza, 20, of 1016 Belmont Ave; and fifth, Paula Grasso, 15, of 918 Blandina St.
The Konig youngsters, who live st 12 South Hills Dr., New Hartford, were surprised and happy. "I'm so excited, I can't believe it." Larry is a junior at Manlius Military Academy. Karen is a freshman at New Hartford Central School.
As usual two dances were run simultaneously in front and back of the skating rink club house at the Parkway. Nick Dardano, WTLB disc jockey, held forth in front while the Luizzi orchestra set the dance tempo in back. The band appeared through the cooperation of Local 51, American Federation of Musicians.
Parks commissioner Edward A. Hanna announced he is seeking indoor quarters in an effort to continue the dances through the winter.

Where was the Northside Inn? Where Dino's is?

The North Side was half way to Frankfort, on a corner where there was a convenience store across the road, and a large mobile home park behind it. In the 60's and 70's it was Dean and Jean's. I haven't been by there in years, but there used to be a used appliance place and a couple of other businesses next to it on the side towards Utica. It is past the old Dino's.

I remember TR working for Presty Bobbbiez, and my first wife worked there as a waitress also, along with her friend Ellie. Her and Ellie got sick of having their butts patted and grabbed and moved on to wait on tables at the place on the street behind the Stanley, haha. I guess they liked the dinner crowd as opposed to the topless bar crowd. My first wife is a Kathy also, and when my oldest got married in Ohio, she was telling my present Kathy about that place and that job. My first wife was asking about Presty, knowing that Kathy and I lived across the road from him. She didn't know that he had passed away.
I remember that nobody messed with TR. She is a tough cookie. It doesn't surprise me that you two ran together, haha. Ya gotta love her.

Yep, I did dearly. Miss "Hi Honey" much.. Presty's prepared her in opening her own after hours place and she did that quite well. Even at 4'10" no one dare mess with TR. She was the best!

I loved her after hours breakfast. We used to go there after dancing at the Moose in Marcy until closing time. She didn't need any extra security there either. She could toss a guy from the front door with the best of them. haha.

I was playing with The Nitecaps in Ogdensburg in 1964 and 65. After hours we'd change out of our tuxes and often went to a truck stop called the "Edge Town." We were sort of like family. There was an 86 year old woman who waited the counter. Can't remember her name, but you didn't mess with her if you knew what was good for you. Many Canadians came over late at night, and they messed with her, and they still have the scars to prove it (and if they're man enough, they'll tell the story).
This was a no-nonsense gal who knew that if she couldn't 'take' any Canadian that gave her grief, which was very unlikely, the rest of us would be all over him like a bad cold. This was our sweetheart (if we had any sense at all). And in the hundreds of times we went there late at night, she never once got an order mixed up. They don't make 'em like that any more. Why didn't I ask her to marry me when I had the chance?

OK, I know where you are talking about. All the stuff you mentioned is still there, but I don't remember a club being there though.
