Hello.
I tried to log in several times yesterday and again this morning. It will list me as on line but does not allow me to post reply or see member only forums. I was having flash backs to the OD forums where I was booted for writing SH_T. (Literally had the dash in there).
Not sure why it let me on now. Please advise. Thanks . Onjee.

I don't know what's going on, but 2 days ago I not only couldn't log in, but I couldn't even get the page to load and I wasn't the only person having that problem. I think it's just a glitch of some sort. Hopefully it's fixed now!

ProBoards is a present going through a server upgrade, they have over 100 of them. All of their boards have been "choppy" and unresponsive at times as they go through this.
There will come a time when they get to our server as well and there will be some changes to the board because of it, but we will know in advance when they will hit.

By the participation and "online" numbers the day before yesterday, I have to think that more of us were having problems, than were not. I was able to get on with no problem as were several others, but on the other side of the coin there were others that could not get it to load, and even went to the OD site to try and contact us for an explanation or assistance.
I might suggest that you make note of some of the email addresses from profiles and drop an email to one of us if you have a problem, and we will be able to tell if it is a widespread problem or isolated in nature.

Good idea Clipper.
It was funny, I showed up on the bottom of the page as one of the members currently on-line, but couldn't post, reply, or see members only forums. When I tried to log in (over and over) it would keep bringing me back to the log in page but still listed me as on-line and having visited etc.. and asked me to log in when I tried to do anything.
I even sent in that I forgot my password but it was correct. (thought I was wrong but was wrong).

1. Open a Command Prompt window (for Windows XP, click Start, Accessories, Command Prompt). 2. Type: "ipconfig" (without the quotes) and press Enter. This step isn't necessary, but it will show you what your current IP address is. 3. Type: "ipconfig /release" and press Enter. 3. Type: "ipconfig /renew" and press Enter.
This may not be the answer you're looking for if you're trying to change the IP address the outside world sees when you visit web sites because that may be a fake number your router, network or even your IP shows to the world. but technically, it answered your question. If you want to know more, you'll have to wait for someone with more knowledge than I to come along.
Oh, you can close that command prompt window now. Type exit or click on the red x. (heh, once a tech writer, always a tech writer)

I'm aware of using proxy servers to mask your true IP address, or using an "anonymous" site or program to hide your IP, otherwise, short of hard coding at the driver level, I'm not aware of any way to actually change your ip address.
ipconfig won't change your outside ip that the rest of the world sees. only the isp can change that. They have an automated system with dynamic IPs but that has changed in recent years. Our IP has stayed the same for about 3 yrs now.

You can change your assumed IP address simply by using someone else's PC at a different location.
