Is it really not okay or is it okay for me to post events that happen in the cafe I manage here? I would be doing it mostly for a posting of events happening there, not so much the profitability of posting it....if you knew me you'd know I've never made money in all the projects I've done...  Just finding out for sure..... |

I'm in no position of authority to offer you a free shot, but I suspect you could name the next event at your cafe and it wouldn't be considered a commercial posting. And if I'm wrong, the worst that would happen would be that it would be deleted and you would have used up one of your three deletions prior to being banned for 30 days.

Midtowner, I sent you a PM and told you to go ahead and put it up. Just tell us the event, the time, the place, etc, and post it. I see no problem with it. Just don't use the site for a billboard for your daily specials or post prices and advertisements for your personal business. Events happening there are fine.
Give it a shot, and we will be able to better judge what you have in mind and whether it fits within the intent of the rule concerning advertising. The purpose of the section is to announce events of interest to the membership. It is sure not being over run with ads or announcements.
If you are having a poetry reading, or a band playing or something like that, it is fine to put an announcement up here. If you are advertising a happy hour special, or a menu item and price, it is inappropriate for all intents and purposes of this section of the board.
If used properly, this section of the board should be a source of announcements for events that would be entertaining or culturally interesting to us all.
