I haven't seen Dick in about 10 years now. I used to make my rounds to sign the book and buy pulltabs at some of the bars up north. When I was single, I ate at the hotel a lot as well as at the little bar in Prospect.
I used to play a lot of pool too. Amazing how well you can play pool when you don't drink anything but diet coke. That was my thing, diet coke and pretzels. Take the buck a game from the drunk dumbasses that insisted we play for money. Haha.
I remember one night in the prospect hotel, a guy got pissed because I beat him in pool, and took a swing. I cranked his arm behind his back, and pinned him over the pool table, and asked him, "ya can't beat a sober man playing pool, do ya REALLY want to attempt to fight one???" LOL. His wife put his coat on and took him home, while everyone laughed at him.
I used to get great joy out of watching others make a fool of themselves. I sure did it enough times before I quit drinking. That probably is not a nice thing to do, as a recovered drunk, but I used to crack up watching drunks make an ass of themselves.
I don't know if Popiel even still lives in Prospect. He used to bounce back and forth between there and Canada. He was a character that's for sure.

Clipper, now you can see why I did and enjoyed bartending as a second job and never drink . I use to tell my customers that I would love to video tape them when they had that one too many and show it to them the next day. Bet most of them would quit drinking . Well, if you ever do bump into Dick again just give him all my best regards. I still think he was the best . Wow!! What a great game the N.Y. Rangers and the Flyers played this afternoon, but the Rangers played much better and the "better" did prevail with 5-4, one over time and then a shot out. Rangers were 2-1 in the shoot out. Just awesome ! They are the best ;D. GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, gonna sit back and watch the Sabers kick the Red Wings as---. Hopefully .

"I was lost and now I'm found ." Private joke . (Thanks Clipper ). Sad , but the Sabers can't celebrate as the Rangers did today. The Red Wings did a job on Buffalo tonight 4-2. Yes, I'm a hugh Ranger fan but I still feel bad when a New York team loses to another outside team . Well, maybe not that bad, when the Islanders lose ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Celebration short lived for the Sabres tonight. Capitals 3, Buffalo 1 Only caught the end of the game and didn't see too much of an effort on their part to make it two wins in a roll . Both Buffalo and the Rangers better get their sh-- together if they want a run at the Stanely Cup this year .

Got one word, AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rangers and the :PBruins played a 65 minute game with no score. No score in regulation , no score in overtime and finally in a shootout the "best" won the game by one goal. RANGERS 1 ;D, Bruins 0 Wtg RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D Haven't see such an exciting game since 1980 when the USA men's hockey team won against the Russians in the Olympics.

Frank, do you remember that game? Wasn't it just awesome!!!!!! I had my little dog sitting on my lap and when the USA team won I jumped up so fast that the poor little thing became air borne. He was never the same after that. Every time a plane flew over my house he would yelp and ran away from me and hid. I had the pleasure of meeting Coach Herb Brooks at the Utica Aud when we had the pros playing there. I still have the program of that game with his signature on it. He was such a really nice guy. After he signed my program he took me and my kids downstairs to meet the guys on the Devil's team and we took plenty of pictures with them all. Then Herb handed me one of their jerseys as a gift. Will never forget that night and how I cried when he passed away so young. Just thought, have some damn good memories in my life and Herb and the USA hockey team winning against the Russians and going on to win the gold at the Olympics are some of them. ;D
