has anyone tried using Google to make calls. I did the other day. Appears to work fine. My brother uses it to call me so I decided to try it out after he called and called my friend in AZ. I usually use Skype but that is PC to PC...this is to a land line...still can't call international unless you pay with either program.

We tried using Google Chat for a video call between my son & daughter in law who were in Myrtle Beach and their kids at our house. We kept getting a "server busy" message and switched to Skype. They were using a smart phone which was probably pre-loaded with the Google service.
I have a Google Voice number which links to my cell & land line. It has a number of neat features although it would have been more useful to me before I retired.
I'm not familiar with the service you describe. How did you get to it?

I have a google email account (never use it though was when I signed up for eblog) i logged into my email account and on the left hand side is Google Voice. (clicked on the little phone icon I had to download the chat program which took a second which then created a dialpad on the right hand side of the screen and entered the numbers and called like a regular phone.

OK I see that. Although I have a Google Voice account, I've never used it for outgoing calls.
