The new stadium for the Yankees is going over budget. Do they really need a martini bar? I wonder what it's gonna be called? Yankee Stadium or Pepsi's Yankee Stadium, or maybe Hebrew National's Yankee Stadium. I keep waiting for that shoe to drop!

The stadium is currently 300 million over budget. The original plan was a proposed 1 billion dollar state of the art stadium but local groups filed motions to halt the construction on the grounds that the new stadium was being built upon parks that had to be raized. The yanks ultimately won out because of their committment to building new parks in that area and along the waterfront for the people who live in that area of the Bronx.
The new stadium will be called yankee stadium and will have the same exact field dimensions as the current yankee stadium. Also keep in mind that this project is being funded primarily with George Steinbrenners money, unlike the new twins stadium which will open in 2011 where multi billionaire and team own Carl Pohlad held the city hostage and threatened to move the Twins unless the city/state funded the new stadium which they ultimately did.
do they need a martini bar? Sure, just as much as they need any other amenity that will be there. Remember, they are not only catering to the common folk fans like us who don't have the means to afford the 410 seat outdoor box reserved for corporate events. Keep in mind the more luxury suites, the lower the cost for the common seat.
You don't have to wait for the other shoe to drop in terms of naming the new yankee stadium. That will never come unless the team is sold from the steinbrenner family. Remember the yanks are the highest grossing team in baseball, they own their own network (which they are trying to sell) and they have the richest most storied tradition and history of any team in professional sports.
The Mets will have Citi field opening in 2009 but in the Bronx fans will be coming out to see "New Yankee Stadium" and if you're feeling nostalgic, old yankee stadium will be located right next door and fully operational. i think they are taking off a few levels of the upper deck of Old yankee stadium but the rest will be there, hopefully for the rest of my lifetime. Best ballpark in all of baseball (not in terms of comfort, amenities, etc) but when you sit there and say, lou gehrig played right there, babe ran around in RF right there, mantle, dimaggio, williams chased balls in CF right there, yogi caught whitey ford on that field.....etc....etc......nothing else compares.

I was waiting for you all day jduges! I posted this just for you I didn't know they were trying to sell the YES Network. Interesting. I'm gonna try and get to a game this year. Probably be impossible to get tickets, but our milk co-op usually gets them for us so we'll see. Would like to go one last time to the old stadium while they're still playing there. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for the season to start. P.S. Tell Joel I'll miss him.

I can't access this site from work.....probably for the best.....It won't be impossible to get tickets this year. It'll be tough to get good games as it always is but to see the A's, royals, orioles, rangers, etc....will be easy.
I want to land tickets to the all star game......and or the homerun derby.....it will be unreal!
I'll pass you're message along to Joel but I'm pretty sure he's not coming back
