Wow Alan, is the city of Utica somewhere beneath all those crime symbols? LOL Seems that they could use either a much larger scaled map, much smaller symbols designating the incidents, or a combination of both.

You got that right.
Surprised I haven's seen anything about our first homicide this year.

Your right they need a bigger map or something.
We have a new creature's downtown. He is a guy about 6'5 around 200lbs has been wearing a faded red hoodie. dark pants with a very long belt as well as a red and white sweater that he ties around his waist. HE IS FREAKEN NUTS. He scared some of us half to death when he entered the bus shelter. I have seen him four times now around the busy corner usually around 12:45PM.

Does he have a little goatee and talk to himself or with imaginary cops?

No goatee but he scares the crap out of me. ANd yes he was a talkin and waving at someone that was not there. And there is another one that showed up again. He is a man that dresses in womans clothes probably in his late twenties. He looks spaced out so he must be on medication. A year ago I was getting on the bus to Walmart and he said to me lets go to Walmart together. I just told him to drop dead. But he didn't. What a shame.

Some days the best you can hope for Alan is that they don't breed, ROFL.

Wow, sounds like my cousin. If it's him he's pretty harmless and should probably be in an institution. When he was young he went to California to visit his father and someone slipped acid in his drink, he hasn't been right since then. Is he a light skinned black male?

I'm pretty disgusted with the way Utica is going now. I went home in April and had no desire to leave my parents house because the city is just plain run down. It's like people don't care anymore. I drove past my Grandmothers house on Elm St. and they've destroyed that place. I'm dying to find them, but 16 years later I'm not the person I was when I lived in Utica. It's just sad to see such a hidden gem destroyed by drugs and corruption.

It is very sad JC. It is NOT the same city that we left. Not many iconic places we loved in our childhood left today. Each time I go home there is something else that has bitten the dust and closed up. What is left has even declined. Hapanowicz was always our last stop on the way out of town, and now it has gotten so it is not much different than your average supermarket meat counter. Star bakery and Holland Farms have survived SO FAR. When will we find those places closed or changed for the worse? Who knows. Everything changes with time, and Utica area has moved beyond anything that I want to be a part of anymore. I am old enough to remember Corn Hill and UFA when it was a nice neighborhood and a fun place to hang out.

I don’t wander around the city as much as I used to during the day, too busy working. But occasionally I have to travel over to one of our other stores. Went to our E. Utica store the other afternoon and was astounded at the nit-wits around and the desolation on that side.
Over where I am I see it every day, but little by little. After not being over there for a few months it has a lot of shock value when you see it all at once.
