You gotta read the Superbowl Commercial Thread. It's pretty funny!
I'm glad the Giants won. What a game!

jduges, I would have bet the farm you were going to say I told you so.
I must admit, you did tell me so and it worked out just about the way you said it would. The Patriots had no one to match up with Burris and could not contain him. And the Giants defensive line put pressure on Brady; his immobility doomed their passing game.
The Miami Dolphins remain the only undefeated team in NFL history. While it doesn't match up to having Roger Maris retain the home run record, I take some solace in it.

When the Patriots scored their second td, it seemed like the Giants's defensive line ran out of steam. Boy was I wrong.

I was only partially right Frank. Burress only had two catches I think, the 14 yd TD was the key though.
What amazed me was that on that drive and the Pats drive where Moss scored on third down that neither Belichek or Coughlin decided to double the other teams best WR in the Red Zone? Unreal.
The blitz by the pats on burress' score was weird and uncalled for. Thomas was getting pressure all by himself and I didn't see the need to run a Zero Coverage Blitz. Great Job by Eli making the correct throw.
That 3rd and 5 play will go down in the annals of time as one of the best superbowl plays ever. There were two 's on that play. First Eli escapes and you're like ? Yes....then he chucks it 34 yds down field into triple coverage to David Tyree. Tyree jumps, grabs the ball with one hand and pins it against his helmet, simultaneously, Rodney Harrison (one of the biggest hitters in the league) lays into Tyree. As Tyree falls backwards he manages to maintain control with one hand and his head, without letting the tip of the ball touch the ground. He survives the aftershock of hitting the ground, then secures the ball with the other hand as Harrison desparately tries to strip it and you are like ? Did I just see that? Did that just happen?
Goes right up there with Lynn Swanns catch, the immaculate reception, tony dorsetts run, all of them.
Swimmy-When the pats scored their second TD I think the D-line was spent. Shortly before that you saw Osi, Strahan, and Tuck rotating in and out hands on their knees. Honestly I think that's why Robbins and Butler got hurt on consecutive plays. To stop the clock and give their guys time to rest. Then the Giants go 83 yds for the go ahead TD and the pats get it back with 32 seconds. At that point, you have the rest of your life to feel tired. There was no way they were gonna be denied and keep in mind the big play came from that rookie DL man who was in on a rotation and fresh.
The best part of that game for me last night was that it was the first game my 11 (soon to be 12) year old son watched with me from start to finish. I've never seen him so animated over a sporting event, it was awesome. Oh course it didn't hurt that I was bouncing off the freaking walls like I did in 03 when the Orangemen won the NCAA title or in 2000 when the yanks beat the Mets. (hell any of the yanks world series).
An incredible night. Keep in mind that 7 of the past 11 Superbowls have been compelling games to watch. Just one more reason why the NFL is the best specatator sport around. (I still like baseball the best but ya gotta give credit where credit is due)

I've never seen him so animated over a sporting event, it was awesome. That is pretty awesome and must have been a fun time to share with your son. My father and I have this tradition during the summer when we're doing yard work before a yankees game. As a much needed break in the summer afternoon, we'll crank up the radio and split a 12 pack.

Not having a father myself growing up I try to make the most out of those kinds of situations with my kids. Probably a big part of why I coach every sport they play too.
The absolute best is when you hear them talking sports with someone else, quoting you and pawning it off as their own knowledge. Last night, my son was talking to his 13 year old cousin and I heard him tell him "Brady's not the same QB when he starts getting hit, the D-line has him rattled."
I laughed out loud cause I said the exact same thing only minutes earlier to my brother in law. Good to know I'm still a role model, for now at least.

jduges, "the apple never falls to far from the tree."
My Dad and I had the same kind of relationship. I can remember watching games on TV with him and going to games with him. How I miss that and him. My Dad along with my Uncle were players on the first Utica Blue Soxs here in Utica back in the 30's. He loved all sports and he taught me about most. I thank God for that and I always thanked my Dad for that to, because his teachings came in handy with raising my four boys and getting them involved in sports. Being active in sports gave them no time to get in trouble.
Like me, your son will always remember those wonderful moments with "his Dad." WTG, jduges!!!!!!!!!!!

Frank- It's not my style to say I told you so.......I just had a feeling about that game.
either way, no matter who you're a fan of, or even if you are a fan or not, if you watched that game last night, you were treated to the best reality TV show you've seen in years.
Loved every single second of that game.

Well, the truth be known, jduges, I'm always quoting you and pawning it off as my own knowledge too.
I agree with putting that helmet catch right up there with the immaculate conception. I wonder if Tyree will join Bucky Dent as having the middle name "Effin" to everybody in Boston.

Nah....he's not that prominent of a player and while that play was crucial it wasn't the scoring or winning play.
I think it may be Eli "F'ing" Manning though.......
Boston fans are just so damn fragile.......toughen up chowder heads.....
