Just wondered what everyone's doing for the Superbow? Going to a bar to watch, staying home and ordering pizza and wings or not watching it at all?
We'll probably order takeout and watch at home. I'm rooting for the Giants only becuase I live in NY and can't stand Boston teams. I like the Eagles. Mostly because of Donovan McNabb. I had been rooting for Green Bay because it's my brother's favorite team and because Brett Farve is cuter than Eli Manning.....ok, all you guys can groan now. I know, it's a chick thing. I have an issue with some of NFL's uniforms too. And I can't stand the Yankee away uniforms, but that's another thread!

hahahahahaha! I know......it's a chick thing. I used to think Troy Aikman was handsome too so I liked the Cowboys for awhile. But, I have gotten better. I think Donovan McNabb is a terrific quarterback even though he hasn't been quite as good since his injuries. I used to watch him when he played for SU. I like a quarterback that isn't afraid to run the ball and take a hit. The ones that fall down so they don't get hit just annoy me.

To answer your question, i'll probably be over at my friend's place drinking some beers, eating some wings and watching some football.
I too became an Eagles fan when McNabb became the quarterback, for much the same reasons as you. But I'm still a Giants fan to the bone, even when the Eagles are beating them.

I'll be watching at home with my two children......well my daughter probably won't be watching. The wife will be gone for a week in Va Beach for work and the kids have school the next day so I'll be ordering pizza and wings and tipping back a couple of bottles of suds.
If I can convince a couple of guys, I might have a card game that night too. We'll see.
From 1984 until 1993 I was a die hard NYG fan. I became frustrated with the way the team was being managed in the early 90's after my all time favorite player (Lawrence Taylor) left and the Giants ran out a group of bums like Dave Brown, and the bunch. Ray Handly as coach sealed the deal and I began rooting for the team I liked just a little less than the Giants which was the Minnesota Vikings. I still root for the G-Men whenever they play anyone other than the Vikes and I'll be busting out the old LT 56 jersey for the game. Lord knows They'll need it.
My wishful prediction: Giants 27 Patriots 24

Jduges, you need to find a hack around your work's security so that you can access this site and share your thoughts. I miss our devil's advocate sparring.

Jduges, your prediction may be the first time you've been wrong in over 20 years. I mean, I like the Giants as much as the next guy, but what can they do against a team that can score at will, on the ground and in the air?
Swimmy, if you ever feel lonely, you can always pick a fight with me.

Even though I want the Giants to win, Brady is cuter than Manning

Francor-I'm not saying it's a lock.....I didn't bet my pension and the kids college money on it. But here's how I see that happening.
1st- The giants have an O-Line and a Running game that can eat up yards and the clock. You can't score at will without the ball.
2nd-the Pat's don't have anyone who can matchup with Burress. Samuels is great but with the pats putting harrison in the box to stop the run, he'll be 1 on 1 with Plax all night. Week 17 plax lit him up to the tune of 2 TDs and a bunch of yds including a 52 yd catch.
3rd-The Giants have the unique ability to put pressure on the passer without blitzing. Meaning if Osi and Strahan can close the pocket on Brady, he'll be forced to make quicker decisions. Constantly throwing into a coverage with 7 defenders and the most Wr's you can have is 5 doesn't bode well. Remember he got knocked around by Balt, Philly, Indy, the Jets, and the Giants this year. Far and away his worst games. The Chargers employed a similar strategy last week, difference is they had to blitz to get pressure. The Giant's won't.
4-I think the Giants have the edge on special teams. hixon is capable of taking it to the house, whereas Welker really isn't. Feagles is far and away the best directional punter in the league. And the GW last week should be enought to give Tynes the confidence needed to make the big kick. How many GW's does Gostkowski have? Remember, Vinateri had two GW in two of the 3 Superbowls the pats won.
5-Pressure. The Giants have nothing to lose and the Pats can be either in the discussion of best team ever or biggest choke ever. Say what you will, but favorite, best offense ever, all kinds of records, 18-0 with a perfect season looming, etc...etc.....makes for tight players in a close game in the 4th quarter. Not too mention the Giants set a record for most road wins in a season 10 in a row. Could it be 11? The Giants are technically the road team.
Again, I say all this knowing that the Giants will have a tough time covering Moss. The pats are indoors, belicheck is the best coach in football, etc....etc..
I want the Giants to win.......but i'll settle for a compelling close, entertaining game.

Either way he's fairly stationary in the pocket......any game he's played where he get's knocked around, you see a different tom brady........those are his 21-45 for 267 2Td and 3 Int type games.

Jduges, you're pretty accurate on all your points. What I don't know is how the Giants can stop the Patriots ground game, too.
I'm gonna lie around the shanty, watch the game and enjoy the commercials.
Go GINTS!
