Has to be somewhat embarrassing to be "romantically" waving your wienie at someone, only to find out too late that it is a cop, LOL.

Has to be a REAL proud moment to have your picture posted on the OD webpage for such an arrest. WTH has this world come to? We had a similar situation in a public park in Johnson City Tn a few years ago. There was a problem with these deviates bumping butt, swilling semen, and wagging their wienies in thickets adjacent to public ball fields and a picnic area. Same scenario went down there. A whole slew of photos made the news and the papers. A proud moment for sure for the families of those idiots.

WTH. I have no reason to condemn gay men as a whole, but these sickos need to take their sex home to a bedroom or off to a motel, just as heterosexuals are required to do by law. It doesn't belong in public parks in daylight. Geez, I don't ever remember picking up girls by flashing them or masturbating in front of them. I think that might possibly be a slight turn off to the average person. These are some sick SOB's. Homosexuality is not illegal, but public lewdness damn sure is. My God, they arrest people for peeing in an alley along Varick St. Why would one think they would get away with this sort of crap?

DA to recuse self from Dem strategist’s public lewdness case

UTICA — The Oneida County District Attorney’s Office plans to recuse itself from a case involving a longtime Democratic strategist and retired Utica College professor who recently was accused of exposing himself at a South Utica park.

Richard J. Emmert, 69, of Bolton Road, New Hartford, was among the 12 men nabbed by Utica police in an undercover operation at Roscoe Conkling Park following numerous complaints of men engaging in sexual acts at the park.

Emmert was charged with exposure of a person, a violation, and public lewdness, a misdemeanor, police said. He could not be reached for comment Monday.

Emmert was District Attorney Scott McNamara’s campaign manager when McNamara first ran for DA in 2007. Emmert also helped former Michael Arcuri get elected in 1993 as the first Democratic DA in Oneida County in nearly 50 years, and then played a role in Arcuri’s later campaigns for U.S. congressman.

On Monday, McNamara said he was “shocked” to hear of the arrest, and that his office’s links to Emmert leave him no choice but to ask that a special outside prosecutor be assigned to handle the case.

“He has a professional relationship with numerous people in this office, those who taught with him, and through political events, so there is a clear appearance of impropriety if we were to prosecute his case,” McNamara said. “Although we would treat him the same as anybody else, there is still that appearance.”

McNamara said he expected to file a request to be recused from the case sometime in the near future.

“I was as shocked as anybody else about this arrest, just because of knowing who he is and knowing him,” McNamara said of Emmert, who also retired from Utica College in 2006 as a political science professor.

The cops have known about this for years, were now just hearing about it, didnt they think it might be a good idea to warn the parents around the area before this?

2 out of 12 have connections in politics, Thats a shocker isnt it? None of the other names ring a bell but my guess is they deserve a bit more scrutiny in their own neighborhoods and maybe they should be on house arrest for a while so that we dont need to wonder where they and there weenies will wander next!.

They should get some serious community service time cleaning up the park with banners saying, "Im a sexual pervert, keep your kids away from me"! This isnt so much a gay thing, its a criminal activity by sexual predators of like persuasions. These freaks are no better than the crack heads and whores we worry our children will be influenced by.

Wonder if they are getting free viagra from Medicare, sounds like a mandatory dose of salt peter daily is order?

Are these men really any different from pedophiles who must register their names wherever they live? Adults may not have to worry so much, but children are still at risk of a psychological and/or physical trauma. Politicos or not, these old twinkies should be punished to the full extent of the law.

I agree. Whether it is a felony or not, these pervs are sexual deviates that should be distinguished as such publicly. They should be on the sex offenders registry and required to adhere to the rules as such. That would mean that their neighbors would know the dangers, they would not be allowed near schools and playgrounds.

When I worked at the OD at night, the cops used to stop by our loading dock for a newspaper. They would tell us about how they had to patrol the dead end of Main Street to roust the homosexuals that would be parked down there having sex in their cars. I believed that as long as they were down there away from the public eye, and engaging in consensual activity, it was no skin off my ass. As for wagging your wiener in a public park and openly masturbating in public, THAT is disgusting and damn sure should result in criminal charges and a harsh penalty for the sick bastards. Sadly, it is a behavior that will most likely be repeated and the only thing accomplished will be to force the violators to find a different place to play.

I agree with JR. They should be assigned to community service and distinguished by a bright colored jumpsuit. Here in Tn. we have litter patrols manned by DWI offenders. They wear a vest labeled with "I am a DWI offender" in block letters on the back. (is there room on the back of a jumpsuit for "I am a disgusting, wienie wagging, butt bumping, deviate" in 4 inch block letters?

The same thing happens down at the Utica Marsh.

I try and go down once a year to photograph the migrating birds and when I pull in with my van, anyone out there disappears like the SWAT team came in.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been harassed down there….which doesn’t bode well for them, but there’s that.

Sad part is that it makes anyone on their own going into the park or marsh suspect.

I found it unbelievable that they took this into some place like Roscoe Conkling, so near the Zoo and golf course. WOW!!! What a bunch of pervs.

I wonder how their wives feel about this!!!
