If this doesn't make your blood boil. Not only were there screw ups from the officials but where the hell were this kids parent for 39 seconds and longer? It doesn't seem like a long time but stand there and time yourself, it will seem very long. I just don't understand how someone could leave a 4-yr old unattended near or in the water. What a waste of a small precious life. www.kcra.com/news/15859296/detail.html

As many times as one hears of these stories, why does it continue to happen? What does it take for parents to realize, water and children= tragedy!!!!!!!! Plus the fact, there are even swimming lessons for babies to learn how to swim. My grandchildren attended these classes at MVCC and knew how to swim before they were this age. This four year old could have been taught from an infant. So sad but so unnecessary.

This reminds me of that story a few summers ago where the family blammed Kunkel for their toddler's death. The mother was upstairs doing something and the toddler wandered out to the back and into the pool. Apparently, that was OK, but Kunkel responding in record time to assist was not.

It is ignorance and neglect on the part of the parents. Having seen wave pools of this magnitude, it is impossible for a lifeguard to monitor everyone when the are packed together and all rising and falling on the waves.
The parent needed to be IN the pool and NEXT to a kid that small. Very sad story, and the amusement park will most likely pay for the tragic lack of judgement of the parents. My heart goes out to all concerned.
