It sure can Todd. Without the vaccine, measles is highly contagious and can become an epidemic anywhere. When my children became of school age before they could enter kindergarten they had to have all their immunizations up dated including the measles vaccine. One had to bring in proof to the school from their doctor or a health clinic stating the child had all their vaccines. I am wondering, if some parents are refusing the proper vaccines for their children due to the fear of Autism, is the cause of this epidemic in Milwaukee. Many doctors feel some of these requested vaccines at such an early stage in a child's life are the cause for Autism. Right now, they are split on whether it is or not. This could be why all of a sudden there is an epidemic of measles in Milwaukee. Don't know, but it could be a good possibility. If anyone has any fears the best thing to do is to get all your children vaccinated and the adults who haven't had the measle shot, I suggest you receive one also.

My three oldest children all had the measles and I can still remember how sick they were and being confined to the house for over 6 weeks before they all got over the measles. One would come down with the measles, then about 7 - 10 days, the next one would get sick, etc.
My last child, born in 1969, got the measle shot and never had to go thru getting sick.
I think you are right, Bobbiez. Many parents are refusing to get their young babies these mandatory shots for fear of the consequences some of these shots are suspected of doing.
