It looks like the unions won't grieve the elimination of take home cars. Gee, that is mighty big of them. It's a start. If I read the article right, they are keeping 5 cars for high ranking officers. How many cars does that leave that they are eliminating? Does anyone know? Hopefully there will be more concessions and cuts in other departments substantial enough to save a few positions.
Police union will likely not file grievance over take-home cars
By DAN MINER Observer-Dispatch
The city’s police union will likely not file a grievance over Mayor Robert Palmieri’s decision to suspend six take-home cars from the public safety departments. The chiefs, an assistant fire chief and two police deputy chiefs are allowed to keep their cars.
Union President Dominick Nitti said the union had discussed the possibility of a grievance with its lawyers after union members had approached him about the move.
But he said the grievance now looks unlikely and that the union is currently in talks on a resolution to the issue. Nitti declined to give details of that proposed agreement because it isn’t finalized.
