Ann Hamilton's Recto-Verso Show opened to a very large audience Friday the 3rd. We spent almost 2 Months consulting, discussing, fabricating and installing this very complex show of moving Images and Sounds. 27 separate pieces that are everything but separate! They play onto and into each other like a giant collage of interesting views of not so abnormal activities. The titles are simple but the images and sounds are stirring, sensual and highly imaginative and Ann was very good to work with. It was a huge team effort and it was worth the challenge. I hope folks get a chance to come check it out, its here until March 8 when I de-install and say goodby! www.pickerartgallery.org/currentexhibitions.html

Welcome back Brudder and huge kudos for again creating the perfect artistic venue to help an artist's work to shine! I know it's a crazy job that adds another whole job to the 2 you already have while you are doing it and I also know how much you love to make it happen!

Wow Chris! That's some crazy work!!! It it all paper? I couldn't tell the medium. I'll share my artist friends work too. caitlinapplegate.com/She does amazing sculptures about 1/3 actual human size. Her recent work is centered around her partner's chemo and a battle with cancer that is nearing its end. It's been a terrible time and I hope she get back to her more whimsical work someday.

JG, that must have been some project! Congratulations! Did you find Hamilton interesting to work with? If there are press photos of the exhibition, can you put them up?

Ann Hamilton is an Artist through and through. Shes extremely passionate about her work and especially how it is presented. I also agree that presentation is key to my success when working with an Artist. My presentation is her work, if I alter it in any manner, its my work getting judged not hers. That said, her work was substantially exactly as she hoped, that was a relief for me.
The galleries that this was installed in were very unforgiving when it came to hiding and burying devices so faux walls and other trickery were used to make thing seem as they should be, not contrived for the show. This was one of the toughest installations Ive ever done but also one of the most personally rewarding. It may also have other rewards more tangible. I was introduced to two local Curators at the reception dinner that have interest in my services, I think that would be wonderful! Much more fun than building Electronic Classrooms, I can do those half asleep!
Ann is a very nice, shes also wonderful to work with. She's willing to discuss any alternative that provides the images and sounds the way she envisions them where she wants them. Not a micro-manager at all, that leaves me my space to practice my art!
I have some pictures that I took but Im not allowed to print them. A catalog will be released on it soon and I think there will have a digital version also, I will link to that as soon as it happens.
Chris, I think the Big greeney is pretty cool!
VG, that sculpture is so scary I could hardly look. So sad, and powerful.

Way to go Bro! Wouldn't it be wonderful to work with in that alternative universe of the artist! We've had years of prep for it emotionally and you have the talent and thoughtfulness to make it happen. I know Caitlin's current sculptures are very dark but they are the reality she has lived for over 2 years. I had hoped that her partner would beat this and that Sloan-Kettering, where she's been treated, would buy the "Chemo Cowboy" sculpture as a message of hope for cancer patients...
