I use Avast on my computers for a security and anti virus program. Does one need to have that sort of program on their mobile phone or other mobile device? I have been getting a pop up message when my Avast updates and scans, telling me that Avast now offers security for mobile devices. I don't have a phone on which I access the web at this time, so I don't need it, but it is nice to know that it is available through Avast.
Question two would be for someone such as JR, Ralph, or someone fairly knowledgeable when it comes to tech issues. Question that I have with my lack of such knowledge is are we subjected to any increased risk of viruses by allowing access from mobile devices such as I-Phones?

Easy answers. 1). YES!!!! 2). No Smart phones are just little dumb boxes and need all the help they can get till they grow up. They pose no danger to the board until an idiot posts something we don’t like. ;D

Cool beans. Glad you clarified that. Chances are I will never need a program such as that. The phone I have now is as "smart" as any that I ever can see myself buying, haha. Life's a bitch when half of the electronics you own are so much smarter than I am.

When we went out to L.A. last year my partner brought not one, not two……but his THREE droid smart phones with him. All dumber than a box of rocks, and more useless than a bag of hammers. As phones they were fine ( despite the batteries don’t last for crap) The GPS program on one kept “recalculating” itself so much that I finally relegated it to the back of the limo under the seat. The other ( I truly believe) was GPSed with Mapquest………the worst in the world and had us going southwest when we were traveling northeast. That one eventually found its way into my partners backpack to try and resolve its internal conflicts. The third one was kind enough to just “play phone” and STFU. My phone is just a phone and worked as expected. The good news is that the Rand McNally Road Atlas I bought on the way out didn’t give us a bit of problems and the pages were easy to navigate. ;D

my friend thinks my iPod got a virus. I don't know but looking up how to fix it I see many iPods have issues of Home button stuck and does not respond. (I did get a way to make it navigate for me but prefer it to run normally...off to Apple store for bad news...warranty ended a year ago.)
