It looks to me that either the House or Senate versions of the bill would work to stimulate the economy and help us avoid a recession without a big danger of causing inflation.
Won't it be sad if the two houses entrench and can't reach agreement? I'm almost certain the White House won't accept the Senate version just because it wasn't Bush's idea. The rest of us might as well bend over and take it while our leaders attempt to score political points.

I find it amazing that exactly 1 year ago Speaker Pelosi was promising to roll back the Bush tax cuts and we seemed to have rolled right back to the Stock Market Crash of 2000. We now get this Byzantine stimulus package.
I would suggest that the slogan for the 2008 election should be "Nancy Pelosi! Welcome back to the 20th Century!"

I have my doubts as to how much it'll really help, especially since its something to be claimed later. I suggest someone start a poll on what some of us intend to do with it if they get it. As for us, the plan is to pay down some debt to free up some of our cash flow. This is not so much so that we can spend more, but to ease some of the burden we currently have. Might allow us to save some money in the long run. Regardless though, its overly obvious that something is not working with the economy lately and something needs to be done right quick.

LOL, Clarence. Nice slogan. At least this year, Ms. Pelosi didn't have that fake looking smile painted on her face. She must have hired a better makeup artist this year.
People paying down their debt with their entitlement checks does help the economy. It makes more money available for business capital investment and for individuals to buy homes.

I read this morning that some senators want to increase the allottment of the federal money for Medicaid to the states. Apparently it will aid the economic stimulus.
Something tells me that this idea of Bush will never get out of the senate. Now that Obama and Kennedy are buddies anything can happen.
