Damn those New York Yankees. Boy, are they good and I just love them! In game one against the Rays they clinch a playoff spot. In game two they won 4-2 over the Rays and .................. "The New York Yankees" are the American East League CHAMPIONS!!!!!! WTG YANKEES! YOU ARE THE BEST! I'm smiling from ear to ear. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I don't care how late it is. Gonna call all my Boston friends just to rub it in after listening to their bull sh*t all season.

They busted it open against John Lester no less.
The Yankees have a knack of getting it together during the final month of the season, the time when it matters the most. They weren't in 1st place for a good part of the season, but after the All Star break, they seem to ramp it up.
Its funny how so many people figured Derek Jeter was worn out and at the end of his career because of the first few months of the season. Then he takes that short rest on the DL and comes back stronger than ever. He is doing so well in the 2nd half that it puts his numbers for the year in line with a typical Jeter season. And you have to do have a hell of a 2nd half to make up for a shitty 1st half.
The way the Bosox are playing right now, I hope they do make the playoffs for the wild card spot. They'll be an easy win!
Do we smell #28, BZ?

The Yankees are on their way to bringing that magnificent trophy home again. ;D I never gave up on Jeter. He's such an outstanding player, man and a great role model for our kids and I want to see him in a Yankees jersey for a very long time. Jeter has been my #1 man ever since Mr. October, #44, Reggie Jackson retired. Have a couple more old time favorites who weren't the best of the best but you could always count on them to get on base and steal plenty while they were at it........Mickey Rivers and Willie Randolph. Just loved those guys. They always made New York proud. FA, I'm not as generous as you. I hope Boston loses the wild card. I have listened to my friends, Boston fans, breaking them on me all season and I just want to keep their big mouths shut. Haven't ya noticed how silent Boston fans are now. I'm just loving it. Lets keep it that way (at least till next year.)

Hey, as busted up as the Bosox are right now, why not roll over them in the playoffs?
Our pitching is what has me concerned in the post season. AJ has been an utter failure in a NY uniform. Hughes is not the Hughes he was a few seasons ago. Colon got beat up his last start. CC has been mostly himself this season. But Ivan Nova has been fantastic. AJ has the salary of a #1 or #2 starter, but with his shody record for NY, I'd pitch Nova before I'd pitch AJ. For whatever reason, Brian Cashman has an obsession for AJ Burnett. Reminds me of when the Yankees picked up Jeff Weaver 10 or so years ago. Or a whole host of other nags they've gone out and bought.
The thing that made them great in the late 90's on was the homegrown talent they brought up from the farm system. Jeter, Posada, Rivera, Pettitte, Bernie Williams. They need to get back to that. Especially pitching. Cannot underestimate or overstate good pitching.

It's now in the bottom of the 13th inning, Yankees up, and the game is still tied. I want to go to bed!!! While I'm waiting for the end of the game have to mention how great it is that the Yanks have a tape of Kate Smith singing, God Bless American, for the 7th inning stretches. Leave it to New York in keeping a tradition alive. NO ONE sings it better then Kate did. As far as I'm concerned it is Kate's song to sing. Damn, going into the 14th inning now. Still tied. Fa, I do agree with you. The pitching staff is important but having base-hitters and players who can steal bases are just as important if not more so. A team can have their super-star pitchers and hitters, but without guys like Mickey Rivers and Willie Randolph getting on and stealing bases a team will not be so successful. Players like those guys are the super-stars in my book. Finally it's over. Boston wins in the 14th inning 7-4. Five hours/eleven minute game. No sweat in losing the one game for the Yankees but I was hoping for another Yankee win which would have tied the Rays with Boston for the wild card. Bummer for the Rays cause they have to play the Yankees tomorrow. Boy, that's gonna be a tough one who to rout for. ;D

I was routing for the Yankees but they did lose to the Rays last night. Honest I was. Since it means nothing to the Yanks in losing the game my smile is just a little bigger with the Ray's win over the Yankees knowing Boston lost their game too. Now Boston and the Rays are tied for the wild card. Bummer for Boston. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Rays beat the Yanks tonight and Boston won their game too, so there is still a tie for that wild card. Tis the final game tomorrow to see who wins it. I ain't routing for anyone, just against Boston. ;D WTG Rays! Got to see something special. What an awesome triple-play the Ray's made in tonight's game.

A sincere "CONGRATS" to the Tampa Bay Rays for winning the AL wild card tonight winning over the Yankees sending them to the playoffs. Boy, the Rays truly deserve the wild card for being the only team ever being down 9 games in September to come back and win the leagues wild card and in tonight's game being down 7 runs in the 8th inning and rallying back to win 8-7 in the 12th inning. Truly unbelievable! Hoping to see the Rays and the NY Yankees as the last two teams standing to fight for the right to win the World Series. Wouldn't want to see it any other way. No skin off the Yankees losing tonight's game but a BIG bummer for Boston's fans seeing their team lose 4-3 to the Baltimore Orioles and being eliminated from the playoffs. Yeah sure, I feel sorry for them. Gonna be so sweet that I don't have to listen to their big mouths again till next season. Thank you, Baltimore!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Big bummer tonight for me and my company having the Yankees game in the second inning postponed till tomorrow. Hopefully the rain will hold off for a while. At least till they get their games in. Exciting game for the Rays tonight in their first playoff game. They crushed the T.Rangers 9-0. Not much for the Ranger fans to cheer about tonight but they did have a fantastic moment to cherish in tonight's game when they had the little six year old boy (who watched his dad fall and get killed trying to catch a foul ball at a game this summer) throw out the first ball of the playoffs. What a heart-warming moment. Not a dry eye in that ball park and not a dry eye here in my home as we watched this little lad throw out the ball. Kudos to the T.Ranger's organization for allowing this little guy to be part of what his dad loved so much.

Nova pitched an absolute GEM last night. I did not get home and pick up on the game till after it was 8-1. Other than loading the bases in the 9th, he had the Tigers locked up.

Yes, he was absolutely awesome and being a rookie to boot. I was very impressed on how calm he remained. The Yanks didn't succeed in todays game but it was a good game, especially in the ninth inning. I thought for sure they would tie it up but no go. Hopefully, with drying off and getting some rest they fair better in tomorrow's game. GO YANKEES! ;D

Here's hoping after tonight's game I'm still smiling. Great game last night but the Yanks fall to the Tigers 5-4 leaving them with a possible elimination if they lose tonight. What am I saying? They ARE going to win. Now....................GO YANKEES!!!!!! ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D......my smile can't get any bigger as the Yanks whipped the Tigers 10-1 tonight. A must-win and they came through with flying colors. WTG Yankees! What an awesome game they played tonight. Impressive win for sure. The catch Curtis Granderson made was totally unreal. He must have slid 100 feet in catching that ball for the out. WTG Curtis! Even got to see something that doesn't happen too often when the Tiger's pitcher balked with bases loaded for the Yanks bringing in another run. Bummer for Detroit. ;D Well now back to New York and as the Yankees said before tonight's game, " if we have to go home mise well take a team with us," and they did. The Tigers are forced back to New York for game 5. Now get some rest boys and come back on Thursday to knock off Detroit for good. "LETS GO YANKEES!!!!!!" ;D
