I know I havent been around for awhile, but I checked the OD's viewpoint section, and tried to find the original post for the Picente thread, and it seems that everything was either re-vamped or just deleted. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or not looking in the right spot...... Also, the OD has struck again with piss poor reporting. Apparently they did an article on the County 911 Center and report that the only thing they do is answer 911 calls, and "elluded" to the dispatchers actually dispatching calls. Once again, making S#$% up.

If they can't find news they make it themselves.

;D I guess the thread was not generating enough hate and dicontent from the irritainers and was not in the "viewpoint" of the editorial board. It is sad that the thread had grown to 22+ pages and was still being actively posted to, and was deleted arbitrarily by this Chinelo pain in the ass person. I guess maybe tommorrow, when I have had time to compose it, I should go back on there and bring the plight of the deputies and the deletion of the thread to the forefront again! There is a thread on there today about how wonderful the new "comment" section is. Yeah Right!!! Talk about bullshit and propaganda! I used to work for the OD years back, and I respected the management there, (of which I was a member at one time). Now I have lost respect for the whole frigging mess. It is not a newspaper, it is a frigging joke. Putting something up on their forum is like a crapshoot. If it is intelligent, and worth discussing it may be deleted because this arrogant Chinello person doesn't happen to agree with your viewpoint, or has a fart caught crosswise at the moment she happens to read it. If it is bullshit, like the april fools day post about the casino, and is posted to twice a day by the chosen few negative contributors, it is left up there. Go figure!!??

The Observer Disgrace has deleted the thread regarding the plight of the members of the Oneida County Police Benevolent Association. What does this tell you, it reaffirms my thought of the OD being a Politically motivated, poor written newspaper. The articles regarding the 911 Center, were written and reported on by the likes of a 3rd grader in grade school. The facts were not brought to light, and the paper should be both embarrassed by their lack of ability to report news accurately, and being a tabloid newspaper not worthy of the fifty cents it cost to buy. The one thread was up to 22+ pages and now it is gone, this is like something that would occur in the former Soviet Union, whats next....To those who posted, Thank You.. my advice boycott the OD, read the Syracuse Post, or the Miami Herald, or the back of a cereal box.. I am posting on Clippers Corner from now on..

I was wondering the same thing swimmy. I read his post on the thread about the comment feature, and didn't understand if he was being sarastic or not. I found that the post that supported the idea, was idiotic, and stupid. As far as I am concerned, it is just another slippery step onto the decline for the disgrace and their editorial bullshit attitude. I kinda wondered if we were starting to get on his nerves with all the ball breaking and silly stuff. Frank is a very serious poster, with an active and brilliant mind. He may have taken a rest from all our fun and games, to make some more intelligent and pointed contributions to the waning membership on the other board for a while. He also may be busy with his active roll in civic and school board matters in Rome. Spring is here, and I am sure that activity on the forums will slow during the day on nice summer days. I am with you in missing Franks wit and contributions to the discussions on our board. I hope he is not mad or put off by anything we have done. Catch ya later swimmy. I have to get to bed shortly. I have a full day tommorrow. I have to be at the VA for an appointment, and I may stop and take my dad out from the nursing home and take him for a ride in the 75 degree sunshine that we are predicted to have tommorrow. I see spring has sprung up there too, huh? Good! Spring in the adirondacks is a beautiful time of year. I miss the cool crisp mornings, wading in the mist on the west canada while trout fishing at dawn. Have a good night and God bless ya my friend. Don't study yourself into brain drain, haha. (4/10 modification and correction to the original post) I didn't mean to infer that Franks post was the stupid one. It was another post that I found to be stupid. Sorry Frank!

;D By the way, I was on the OD forum this morning and posted to the thread pertaining to the deletion of the long running and still active thread about the plight of our deputies. I encourage any of our members to also go there and question the motives in taking down the thread. In the mean time continue to support our deps and our members employed by the department here on THIS forum. Great guys doing a hard but great job!

When I want to read something in the OD, I go to their Website to see what they have written about it - FREE!
I cancelled my subscription after 3 months as the cost of having the paper delivered wasn't worth it, and the paper was never delivered until AFTER 7AM, and on Sundays the paper never came until well after 8 AM or sometimes even 9AM.
These "reporters" are far from being "Investigative Reporters" and their command of the English language is on a grade school level. This paper is currently surviving on the income generated by their sale of advertisements. Once these businesses realize how few people actually read and buy the OD, they will stop buying ads and the OD will fade away into the sunset and not even be missed!

The OD's on-line version is just awful! I've emailed them to complain several times. The online version should mirror the printed version, and it doesn't even come close. For awhile it appeared as though they were only listing 10 obituaries at a time. I love the Sunday column, This Week in History, and it is not always available on Sunday. Sometimes it shows up a few days later, sometimes a week later.
However, I must say that in general I thought the OD was the worst newspaper ever.....until I moved to Watertown. Our local uses the worst phraseology I ever read in a newspaper (busted for pot, so and so wrote a rubber check, etc), and the obits are not a paid for obit, so they consider it to be a "news item". Up until a year or so ago, they'd list any arrests the deceased had in their obituary. They research and go out of their way to dig up divorce records and list that information as well, nevermind what information the family might provide to the funeral homes!!
Anyway....
The OD forum appears to be pretty dead now that the have their new comment section.

Yeah Denise, the grass isn't always greener on the other side. The entire Malone newspaper here is about five pages long and is filled with who died, who got engaged, who got married, who's having an anniversary, what organization is having a community breakfast or dinner, and what everyones kids are doing. No Sunday paper either. It would be so nice if I could read about National sports instead of so & so's kid made the local team.

I keep forgetting you are even further north than me, Bobbbiez! Doesn't the Watertown Daily Times cover Malone as well?

Time was when the Watertown paper was considered a terrific example of what a small (20K circulation) paper could be. It had excellent writing and layout. Does the Johnson family still run the paper? I know they bought the Catskill Daily Mail in the town just north of me and that paper is nothing to write home about.

Hi Denise. I usually pick up the Post Standard from Massena, the Press Republican from Plattsburg, but not sure about the Watertown Daily Times. Will check tomorrow. Thank you. In your opinion is it worth picking up if I find it, , or is it on the same level as ours, The Malone Telegram?
