Many times in politics, there is a neccessity to trash the status quo and start anew. Breaking up any patronage laden fiefdoms is a good thing, and should be embraced every few years as a rule. It is like shopping for car insurance. A political covey starts to suffer from patronage and degradation after a time, and needs refreshing or replacing. They recommmend that you shop for car insurance every few years, and the same is true in politics. A clean slate can be a wonderful thing!
