Mayor David Roefaro has chosen Brian Thomas, formerly city director of urban planning, as the new commissioner of the Urban and Economic Development department.
Roefaro said he made the decision based on his confidence in Thomas and in consultation with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He chose Thomas over Mohawk Valley EDGE and the Utica Municipal Housing Authority, two groups he’d interviewed recently for the job.

Well, I don't know this man, but ANYTHING is better than turning the responsibility over to EDGE. With six months left on his term as mayor, it seems to be a reasonable and acceptable choice.
What do you, the city residents have to say about that choice?
