www.uticaod.com/latestnews/x1797067052/Brian-Thomas-new-city-economic-development-chiefMayor David Roefaro has chosen Brian Thomas, formerly city director of urban planning, as the new commissioner of the Urban and Economic Development department. Roefaro said he made the decision based on his confidence in Thomas and in consultation with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He chose Thomas over Mohawk Valley ED GE and the Utica Municipal Housing Authority, two groups he’d interviewed recently for the job.

Well, I don't know this man, but ANYTHING is better than turning the responsibility over to EDGE. With six months left on his term as mayor, it seems to be a reasonable and acceptable choice. What do you, the city residents have to say about that choice?

What would be the downside of leaving the position vacant for 6 months? Perhaps PSC LaBella could take care of the paperwork in the interim.

Better than EDGE...Better than MHA...But the "insiders" ARE STILL IN CHARGE. He was the point man on the master plan.

I'm with Clarence on this one. Less than 6 months to go and there is no guarantee the new mayor will keep this appointment of find someone else. A little late. I don't have much faith in these ''development'' agencies of government to begin with because they don't seem to do anything but develop their own pockets and create lots of controversy.

Brian has been "recycled" so many times he must just push his chair from office to office.
