I was listening to you HAMS today during the Boilermaker & you guys did great! I noticed that your station was the only one coming in clearly, so you must be a man with many watts... Did Dave participate again this year? Whomever was "net-control" seemed to be losing his cool...

The Kitster is an experienced ham Stoney. Not only is he an experienced amateur radio operator, his younger days had him "hamming it up" on stage with his band.

Thanks Stoney, Not sure why I should have sounded clearer than the others... probably just good clean living ;o) That and the fact that many of the others don't know how to use a microphone properly.
I didn't see Dave's name on our roster and didn't hear his voice so I don't think he was involved in the Boilermaker today.
Clipper, Yes, your uncle Jim and I had a ball performing and thinking up naughty lyrics to the popular songs. The folks in Ogdensburg loved it and called us "that dirty band from Utica."

He was just talking about that when we were there a few weeks ago. He was in the hospital again last week for another heart cath. No blockages, but his BP is seemingly out of control. This getting older just ain't for sissies. lol.
Hope you are doing well Kit. I know you had some health issues the last time Jim talked to ya. I guess we just tend to break down and wear out just like anything else. Of course in my own case, I put a lot of hard miles on this body, that didn't really do it any good, lol.

Boy Kit, K -Rock could have used your help at the Boilermaker race yesterday. The station sent their man Steve down to cover the Boilermaker and to rock some music during the race for the runners without any help to set up or anything else. When RJ and I got on the corner in Yorkville at 6:15am no one was there but Steve and his K-Rock van. Poor guy was struggling to set up so RJ and I joined in to help him. The two of us had no idea what we were doing but the three of us working together got pretty much set up just as the runners started to come down Champlin Ave and then we found one huge problem. No place to plug in and the station forgot to place a compressor in Steve's truck. Steve called the station and they said someone was coming right down to help him finish setting up. No one from the station ever showed up. The fans (now plentiful) and racers were yelling to Steve for music, entertainment and some excitement. Long story made short. Steve on my advice just backed up the K-Rock van to the edge of the road, turned his radio on, blared some music from whatever station he could find to make everyone happy. Now, where the hell were you? We could have used your expertise. ;D Good did come out of the bad. We made a friend for life in helping Steve. He couldn't thank us enough.

I hung up my Boilermaker Radio Shoes after last year and didn't participate this year. I was the most distant member of the team, I think. But maybe not, because only once was I able to attend the Friday night BM volunteer picnic and meet other amateur radio operators who were involved.
So this year I had a more leisurely time driving up to Utica for the Apres Boilermaker party at my cousins' home in Barneveld. We stayed last night in Rome and came home this morning.

You didn't call to let me know you were in so I could have made you those little mini-cheesecakes? Your loss! You missed one hell of a great Boilermaker party at my house which is not far from Barneveld at all. ;D
