www.wktv.com/news/local/16119652.htmlKnowing nothing about it, this story has seemed rather strange to me since first reading of his arrest and trial. Certainly a terrible crime, how did the prosecution prove intent? There must be more to this story. A history of abuse, possibly, or other circumstances. Anyone have any ideas?

Guilty or innocent, after the news stories of the last few years..........what the hell was he thinking anyway?!?!!?
I wouldn't want anyones child in my house for any reason if I had been in his position, let alone so much as laying a finger on their heads.
Crazy!

Dave - According to the OD article in this mornings' paper, the Judge threw the jail sentence of 3 years (he could have sentenced him to the max of 7 years)based on evidence the defendant had lied and made other people lie in an attempt to defend himself.
There was evidence admitted during the Trial of a recorded phone conversation between the mother of the little girl and the defendant where he ADMITTED fondling the little girl by rubbing all over her little body. When he was on the Witness Stand, he denied he ever did this!
The defendant was previously a Pastor which made the fact he lied all the worst.
IMO - 3 years for traumatizing this little girl when she was only 6 years old, and who she trusted as a family friend at the time, is a very short period of incarceration. This little girl is still undergoing counseling and probably will for quite some time into the future.

It will be the toughest 3 years he has to survive. Even murderers and rapists don't take kindly to child molesters.
But the intent was easy, he admitted it to the child's mother that he touched her and was in love with her muscular physique. That gave him a motive, and he had the means to do it, thereby circumstantially proving intent.

For that very reason, swimmy, molesters and similar criminals are sent to different facilities or segregated to protect them. While in county jail, they may not, but in state, they do. A source of mine familiar with the NYS prison system tells me he'll either end up at Oneida facility in Rome, or Gowanda in Gowanda. More than likely Gowanda since it never seems like they locate them anywhere near the place they are from.
Its too bad, I know his wife and she is a teacher. Her and her kids are also victims in all of this. There was more to this case than what has been disclosed, but do to my connection to the wife, I will not disclose this. None of it was brought up in court and I believe it wasn't allowed to be brought up. It would not suprise me in the least if a civil lawsuit ensues now that he was convicted and sentenced.

I wouldn't have been surprised of a civil suit even if the criminal case was acquitted. Preponderance of the evidence is far easier than beyond reasonable doubt.
Too bad they're segregated. I didn't realize we cared about them. Sorry if that's insensitive.

I don't think care is an issue. It just wouldn't do for the state to be encouraging crime, would it?

A NY State Prison does not segregate child molesters. If they are threaten and harmed and are willing to rat on the person that offended them they will be segregated for a short period of time after an investigation. This also requires a written statement and the I/M signature requesting Protective Custody. Now he will become a Child Molester and a Snitch, the 2-things you don't want to be in a Prison.
Either way he will be lucky to survive his ordeal. If not may he rot in hell.

Since he is no longer a Pastor, maybe he will be one of those inmates that claim to be "reformed" and they now have "found" God - LOL!

He'll get reformed alright! Bubba will have a "come to jesus" meeting with him. He most likely won't like it, haha! He will be playing leapfrog with the kid that assaulted the cop on James St. and Bubba the bullfrog!

Many years ago I taught part time in all of the area prisons. I really enjoyed the experience. I remember one summer evening I was just finishing up my lesson with my students and I noticed out the window several inmated carring there belongings across one of the coutyards. I asked my students if this was a moving day? They said for the child molesters it is.... I learned a lot teaching 7 years to some really intelligent inmates.
