She approve's that her daughter can get pregnant and even picks the boy!
Yep, I guess only in Utica. Unless this happens elsewhere. Lady that i usually see downtown and haven't seen in awhile but saw her today. I said to you had another child. No she said this is my daughter's baby. Her daughter has been driving her nuts with wanting a baby. So Mom said yes. The kid is so cute. Only 9 weeks old. God bless them.

Wait, wait, wait, wait. Back up a second, or two. A mother allowed her 16 year old daughter to become pregnant as a gift for her daughter's birthday? And they selected the boy she could sleep with?! How does one pick out a boy to impregnate you? For that matter, what boy would be dumb enough to be used like that?!

21 years at 17% of the gross of whatever this kid makes for child support if he cant pay his parents can be held responsible. just curious as to the ethnic makeup of the players. 5 will get you 10 we are paying for this guaranteed

I was shocked at first. She is a really nice lady. She has about 8 children. Her whole life has been raising her grandchildren. Couple of her boy are in prison which is a shame.
She did not want her daughter to get involved with a bad boy. So thru her friends one boy said yes. Money and child support have nothing to do with is. Her daughter just wanted a baby. I know it sounds crazy but I can understand. Besides they get money from the County, food stamps , WIC and other help from their Church. Like they say - they are Blessed.
I have a relative like that. She never wanted to get married due to health problems but always wanted a daughter. Like she said' All I need is the sperm". It was a no contract deal where the guy agreed that he would not have to support the child or have contact. For 28 years now and my cousin's daughter is a wonderful person. Her mom died of brain cancer a few months ago. The daughter graduated fom Utica College a while back and has a great job in South Carolina along with her husband.

With the statement that she receives help from her church, it would be quite possible, although not probable, that she is a poor little Italian Catholic girl from the St Mary Mt Carmel parish. Who's to say.   (Alan didn't say whether or not she was of a minority ethnic background) Race or ethnicity aside, this whole scenario smacks of a desire to upgrade her status from a dependent on the dole, to an independent unmarried mother with a child, with a benefit card of her own. Something very sad about the idea that her mother would condone such an scenario and path for her 16 year old daughter to embark upon at such a young age. Speaks volumes about the loose and free entitlement system in place today. For some it is a temporary necessity, as it was supposed to be when the programs were devised. For others it has become this government operated ATM machine for the lazy and unmotivated. It seems that present day liberals want to feed the beast and grow it, rather than to curtail the abuses, and regain control over the costs of the programs.

"Money and child support have nothing to do with it" Really? REALLY??? REALLY? ?Who the hell does she think is providing the money and support....through the County, Food Stamps, WIC, etc!?!?!? Guess who pays for THAT? I lost my damn Medicaid Assisted health insurance because I made $36.00 a month too much, for what? ? To support some idiots daughters "birthday gift baby"!!!!! Sterilization should have happened a couple generations back in that family I think. It's never too late to start. |

They are Christians not members of any Catholic Church although they get help from Catholic Charities just like half the population of Utica, LOL
Guys. This isn't the first I have seen this it goes on all the time at least in Utica. As I get to know these people I can really understand their need. My cousins daughter is a prime example of how everything works out right. She is racially mixed. The lady with the 16 year old daughter and that cute baby are black. Her mother is hearing disabled and was not able to work so she was on public assistance for many years because she had to take care of her grandkids. I quess it is better that she takes care of her grandkids that have to pay someone else.
The same event occured a few years ago to another woman I see alot. The mother's daughter has cerebral palsy. When her daughter was 20 years old she also wanted a baby.( Do you blame her?) The mother through friends was able to find a very nice young man to father the daughter without any strings attached. The baby grew up to be a fantastic little girl. SHe is around seven today and very smart. These are white folk. It happens is all races. I may be to liberal I guess in being able to understand this.
ANd just last Saturday a 50 years old woman was waiting for the bus with her new baby. Some of her friends saw her downtown and there were just a laughing and joking about wanting another baby at her age. The only think I don't understand is no one want to get married and have a commitment. Or even stay with the same man. Society has changed.

My food stamps were cut by $18.00 and my rent went up $5.00 but my income never went up a penny. Next year I will remember to save my over the counter medications so my rent can go down especially since we are supposed to receive a small increase in Social Security Benifits( YEAH!!!!!) |

State and federal laws require DSS to seek support from the putative father in order to provide public assistance. I should be more specific here, she will not be denied public assistance, but her numbers will be affected if she does not give up the boy to DSS for DSS to go after for support. State law obligates both parents to support their children, regardless any "agreements" they may reach.

The child and mother receive assistance and the mother's in all of what I mentioned including another woman I know never had to submit the name of the man involved. They simply do not know who the man is. No reason to make the children and mothers suffer. I know that two of them were on SSDI but also worked in the hair industry. The original story concerning the 16 year old she get WIC for her child but is supported by her mother until she reaches 18. |

But if you know who the father is, then DSS must go after him. Where they do not know who the father is, reasonable efforts have to be made to seek him out.
