I use FF so often that it wasn't until I tried IE8 with Proboards that I realized that part of (most of?) my response problem with FF on Proboards is sitting there waiting for the mouse to work.
I had read somewhere about being able to adjust the mouse response priority in about:config, but I can't find anything that would seem a likely statement to change. There is also the ability to adjust mouse priority for XP (which I'm running) but I'm not having the problem with other browsers, so I think the problem is with Firefox.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Or it could be with you mouse. I have a Logitech MX Revolution and I have the ability it set up to work differently on FF and IE. All depends on the mouse I guess.

That could be the problem, like Ralph suggested. I know I had a problem with my mouse randomly jetting across my screen without my knowledge. I switched mice and now the problem is gone.

I'll check it out, Swimmy. It's true when I move to the other computer and use firefox, I don't have the problem, but I'm thinking maybe that's because the other computer is so much faster. Worth a look though.

Dave, I also found this page for you. It mentions a setting in about:config content.switch.threshold

Absolutely! That did it! You da man!! Now you can sleep over at Ralph's house. Or not, if you don't like cockatoos.
I created content.switch.threshold and upped the integer from 750000 to 1000000 and that tremendously made the mouse more responsive. Now, as a new page begins to load, I can immediately start rolling the mouse wheel and get a response as the page scrolls starts at once. THANKS, Swimmy!
