I'm watching a CC meeting, which was probably taped a week or two ago. Chief Brooks got up to the podium & spoke for a very long time as he recited accolades received with regard to the Utica Fire Dept. EMS service. When he finally went to sit down, Morehouse thanked him for negating the previous complaints made by Vescera. Morehouse was not at all impartial, similar to when he put down Obama & the National Healthcare initiative. If Utica residents vote him back in as CC pres., I give up. They are dumber than I thought.

Anyone that put down OBama and the National Health Care Initiative can't be all bad. I wonder where I can get my Morehouse for CC pres bumper sticker? (Of course people here in Tennessee would probably say "who the hell is Morehouse?) Not really. If I lived there I would vote for Zecca. Just picking on Stoney.

I don't know Morehouse, but regarding the ad, above: There must be at least a few people who would say yes, that's exactly what is needed as a Democratic candidate Council President ... a Republican. An aside: I'm not familiar with Utica politics, but I notice the ad casts Zogby as a Democratic pollster. I guess I knew that, but I don't think he's introduced that way on news channels, is he?

But this is more (pardon the pun) than that. He shows favoritism, & does not hide his dislike for certain council members. If a citizen speaks about something he doesn't agree with, he finds any reason to cut them off while they're speaking at the podium, but he will let others go over the 3-minute limit. He does not follow any meeting rules, but seems to make up his own while adding his editorialized opinions.
Like Larry said (sort of), Morehouse is a Republican in Democrat clothing. But that was probably the only way he could get carried through the CC Pres. election against Testa.

Dave, did you know that Zogby ran for mayor years ago? Early 80s, I think. We were all members of the Citizens' Action group he & Ric Converse formed.

Like Stoney said, there's a LOT more to it. Also, Dave, I believe you're a Republican, so you wouldn't be the targeted audience for this piece. Remember, Morehouse has to win a Democratic primary before he gets a chance to run in the general. He doesn't seem to get that when he makes anti-Jewish and anti-Obama statements from the council floor. Republicans can't help him on Primary day and the Democrats that vote in Primaries are the party faithful that won't take kindly to his statements against Obama, in favor of Palin, against Jews, his comment that we should "kill all pit bulls", and his support of Bush. Furthermore, it's a Democratic city. Even in his loss last year, Arcuri and every other Democrat took Utica 3 -1. This is politics.

Stoney is also right about his first win against Testa. He would've had no chance if it wasn't for it being a HUGE Democratic year and his strong arming Arcuri, Roefaro and LaBella to write letters of support that he mailed through East Utica. Even then, at the height of his popularity, he only won by a handful of votes.

Larry, I was trying to be humorous. I'm not always successful. It just struck me that way. I'm not a Republican, by the way. I've never joined or supported a party. I have given donations to less that a handful of local politicians and written letters to the editor in support of them only occasionally. They are all Democrats, come to think of it, but on local issues it's the issue only. Our town doesn't have a Foreign Policy Committee, although some might wish it.
Stoney, no I didn't know Zogby was professed. Wouldn't that hurt his polling credentials to be a professed party member? Either party, of course.

Is he running this year I never keep up with Utica politic's. It never seems to change. The same type of person runs every election year and gets elected.

I had an extremely long reply, but realized it was mostly insider baseball talk. Let's just keep in mind that the intended/targeted audience is diehard Democrats, which are the only ones that have a say in a primary. Likewise, if Romney stated praising Obama, bashing Bush and wrote a letter to the editor supporting Jimmy Carter - I think he would have a hard time capturing the GOP nomination. Don't forget, Dave, you're what is called the "thinking voter", which means you're in a class of about 10% of the entire electorate.

First and foremost let’s keep in mind the main point. Morehouse is a dork.

Dave, Zogby hadn't starting his polling business at that time.
