Council may give up on Pylman caseI find it strangely odd that they didn't trust Julian to investigate the matter, but trust roefaro who very well could have been politically motivated to spearhead the investigation. Public Safety was, after all, his primary campaign theme. I also find it strange that the council would wait this long to decide to act. If things surrounding this fiasco weren't political, they're doing a piss poor job of explaining why it is not.

IMO this was a complete waste of tax paper money and with only political reasons for even starting this "investigation".
I don't have any associations with anyone employed by the UPD and can only judge the current UPD force as very professional and it is nice to see police officers that don't have their names ending in a vowel. The UPD is being run as a professional organization and not like the "good old boys club" of years ago.

True, but why wait this long and why now decide to hand it over to the mayor?

I see this move as confirmation that it was all a political witchhunt after all. The council majority got what it was looking for -- a device with which to beat Julian soundly about the head and shoulders and to boost their compatriot's rise to the mayor's office. Now that they have achieved their goals for the investigation, they dump it off on Roefaro.
It was either a witchhunt or this is the greatest example of political cowardice we have wittnessed in a very long time.
My prediction: Roefaro will meet with Pylman in private and the matter will be closed. And the public will never know what really happened. Bend over, folks, this will only hurt for a moment.
