Meth labs on rise, again'Bout time manufacturing started to return. But, all joking aside, I think it has more to do with shoddy prosecution than ineffective laws. Tioga and Broome County have not reported any similar problems.

They may simply be ashamed to report such a thing Swimmy. Meth has become a recurring problem with the advent of what they call "shake and bake" method of making the stuff. I guess it can be made just about anywhere in a very short time in nothing more than a 2 liter soda bottle. They bust portable labs here all the time. People put their stuff in a pickup truck and drive down a dead end road or rent a motel room and make a batch. Can't complain about the enforcement here though. They seem to stay on top of it pretty well, and we see almost daily where someone is busted. The local police are not the least bit shy about calling for a dog when they have just cause, and it isn't at all odd to see a car being searched on the side of the road while the occupants sit in the grass or in the back seat of a patrol car.

It's all about supply and demand, and easy access.
Meth labs are a lot like cockroaches. You find one or two and there are more to be found somewhere.

Meth labs are operated by Cockroaches. Two legged cockroaches, lol.
Just came from the store, and there were two patrol cars, one of which was a K-9 unit. They had an older model pickup pulled over. They must have found something because the tow truck was there to retrieve the vehicle, and the two occupants were being marched toward the patrol cars with cuffs on, LOL.

Possibly, Clipper. However, the Tioga County Sheriff was responsible for the legislation and enforcement tactics that took down the meth labs and reduced the problem back when it was still a new phenomenon. So I don't think, at least in Tioga county's case, that it is a matter of pride or embarrassment. Rather, they successfully got those people off the streets and have kept them off.
Over half of those 9 busts came from Oneida County. Something seems odd about that. It's good to know that the only business those crooks in office can attract is more crime. Why isn't vickers going after the meth labs for skirting their taxes?! At least they're legally obligated to pay them!
