www.popsci.com/gadgets/gallery/2011-02/goods-april-2011Re: Number 1 The last time I was at a Dr's appt, I watched the RN take my blood pressure and then type the results into their records. The old manufacturing engineer in me wondered why that bit couldn't be eliminated from the process. Later I asked my wife if blood pressure cuffs were available to input directly to the record. She told me they were but most doctor's ofices hadn't adopted them because of the cost. I think this and similar devices could reduce health care costs but it needs to be open not IOS specific.

Sure, put my wife, an RN, out of a job. Thanks man, appreciated. She's my meal ticket.

Pretty cool toy but truly this type of technology can change the face an significantly lower the cost of Health and Home Care- Most homes in the worst economic regions have Internet, Computers and Cheap webcams or all in one on an IPhone, Pad or other <$500 device.
For the cost of single visit to a specialist, we can now and for the future bring the PA or Dr to your home, he doesn't have to leave the office, you dont have to leave your sickbed! Those unacquainted with the tech or in need of professional hands on could get FA's or CB's wife to do a drive by to interface with the Dr and Patient.
Battlefield Surgeons do their work remotely now, Webcams, Remote Sensing, Diagnosis and Monitoring could eliminate millions of doctor visits. My Mom is in the Presbyterian Home for Parkinson's and other aging problems. She had a local Neuro that screwed her up bad for 10+ years.
Her new Neurologist is in Th U of Rochester, A researcher and ground-breaker. In the last 8 months, he has worked miracles with my Mom de-medicating her yet he has never personally touched her. Its all done through Tele-Med! We see him, he sees my Mom and a professional Parkinson's trained Nurse does everything that the Dr' asks as well as gives full progression reports. We get a full half hour or more with him every time we meet, lots of mobility tests, Q&A and real interaction. Not 2 months to schedule, 2 hours in the waiting room, 2 minutes with the Dr. or PA, 2 new tests and 2 new prescriptions like her last Neurologist!
Technology really doesn't just need to be a toy, it can provide reasonable, personal medical help and life sustaining care for the masses as well as modernize the way we do business in our County Seats, Albany, Washington and World Wide.

One thing a computer can never replace that a nurse possesses, good bedside manner.
