That is a riot Clarence. I had a "bag phone" from Cellular One when I had my business. I had an exterior antenna on the truck that I could plug in by removing the rubber ducky on the phone bag. It had a lead acid battery and weighed about 5 pounds, lol.
I tried one of the first flip phones from motorola, but the signal strength was so much weaker than with the bag phone, that when I got North of Deerfield hill it was doubtful or at least iffy whether or not I would be able to send or receive calls.
I also drove for a company that had mobile phones in their trucks. If you left the phone on overnight the truck might not start the next day. Must have been a hell of a drain to operated the foolish telephone.

That was funny as hell. I had the Bag phone in Fort Drum for years and when we were out near the northern ranges the flip phones couldn't reach squat, My Bag Phone worked awesome!
