NYS Senate Passes eWaste Fee

This starts this month, a new fee on Manufacturers that sell their Electronic Products in New York.

Manufacturers must now develop and implement a plan to recover all the Electronic gadgets and gizmoz. This will cost the producers more, they will in tern charge us more. We will buy products out of state and or country online to avoid paying New York another Dime!

It sounds good if you say it fast enough but they have literally dealt the death blow to local Distributors and Manufacturers and empowered a single industry, E Waste. Think about it, how many products that you cant eat do you purchase dont have a circuit board?

I just got a job that has over 400 separate high end tech devices I will be selling and installing, not Walmart Crap, ROH's certified gear. Do I have to come pick it up in 10 years and get rid of it for nothing ?

I was just reading an article in the PSB about a vendor down here in Vestal who recycles old computer gadgets component by component.

Its huge business, I love that, lots of materials can be recovered at a profit. Mandating manufacturers take responsibility for recovery seems to be foolish, expensive and unenforceable.
