5 face prostitution chargesWould one of you law enforcement officers kindly explain to me why you would charge someone with loitering around for the purpose of engaging in prostitution? I understand if you're charging the person to include a lessor offense, but why not charge all of them with that?

This had been getting to be the norm again around the Loretto Center area.
The ones that get grabbed for loitering with the intent are known prostitutes who have been arrested before.
It's just 'peat & repeat with them, amounting to not much more than an appearance ticket at the station and a big hassle for them. But it helps get them off the street for a little while.
The bad part of it all is that it is an indicator of a good running crack house in the immediate vicinity. They go together like cake and frosting.

I do not have a true factual answer for you> we don't usually make arrests like this. However, I would assume a charge like that is possibly just to get them off the street rather than just shooing them away. One of them I have seen around Utica several times and for the life of me I do not know how someone could be that desperate, let alone pay for it from her. She is usually higher than a kite, with a face you swear would make the moon look as smooth as a baby's ass. She just got done about 2 months ago for doing 30 days I believe for prostitution

Wow. So they don't all look like Julia Roberts.
What is the most punishment they face for loitering for the purpose of engaging in prostitution? Just an overnight jail visit and a fine?

I believe it is up to 15 days in jail which ends up being 10 with good behavior.

Where in the heck else could you get free room and board where it is warm for 10 days and not have to pay anything or even work?

Do you know why state employees don't look out the window in the morning?
::drumroll::
Because they wouldn't have anything to do in the afternoon.

Oh, see I thought that's why they had coffee in the morning, so they would be awake to see what's out the window. But that's a great one! :-)

No, there is no "Pretty Woman" prostitution in Utica.
They are crack whores plain and simple. They go from their john to the house, get high, it wears off and back on the street again in an endless cycle. It is mind numbing!
How anyone could pay for their services is beyond me. I'm pretty sure I know exactly who you are talking about wcup! Scary is an apt term to use!!! How she has managed to stay alive this long without dying from something is beyond my comprehension!!!
How the johns have managed to live is equally disturbing.
You could NEVER pay me enough to even consider one of these "things"!!!

When I was driving a truck, I heard one on the CB radio one night near Dayton Ohio. She was at truck stop. She said she would do "anything for $25". I hollered at her on the radio and told her to get her bucket and rubber gloves and I would give her $25 bucks to wash my truck. Damn, did she cuss me, and everyone else on channel 19 took turns busting her chops. Haha.
Never could see paying $25 for a peanut butter sandwich, when I had prime rib at home, haha.
