Kit, you were a bass player? What bassist do you like in today's music? I love Flea, with Slash bringing up the rear.
Flea & the Peppers~~
Slash & Guns n' Roses~~

Stoney, yeah I was a bass player but only because I was asked. I'm a trained drummer and messed around a little with the 6-string guitar. I was asked to join the Nitecaps as a bassist and went out and bought a bass and started playing it. The 4 strings on a bass are tuned like 4 of the guitar strings so the transition wasn't very difficult.
Being a drummer, my hands are very fast and this reflected in my playing. My bass style was sort of unique and I haven't heard anyone who has been able to duplicate it yet. I enjoyed it when I played, but left the music 'business' in 1965 when my dad got sick. I still play the drums in a few concert bands, and that's where my love lies. (Well, that particular love, anyway.) Much to the consternation of the other drummers, my favorite is the bass drum.
In today's music you never know if there's a real dummer or bass player ayway. Everything is phoney. So I don't have a favorite bass player today.

I understand that, Kit. Both Flea & Slash are family men & don't partake in drugs/alcohol, which is probably the major reason for their success (while Flea is single, he raises his teenage daughter, Clara, by himself).
In Guns N' Roses case, Axl Rose got booted due to his excessive drug use. Slash ended up starting a new band, Velvet Revolver. If you'll notice in the video, there's a gal with long, dark wavy hair whom he kisses at one point; that was his ex-girlfriend, who is also the same woman on the Poison "Every Rose has its Thorn" video.
She is a friend of mine I met years ago who broke it off with Axl due to his not being very good at much of anything under his condition. She married a cop, has 3 kids, & lives in the Midwest.
Do you like their playing, though?

Did any of you used to hear Mossback Mule Band? They were probably one of the first bands I followed. Used to hear them at The Oasis in Westmoreland a lot and just loved them. My guy knew some of them and I think one of them taught him to play guitar. I don't know if any of them are still around or playing out with other bands. I never knew their names or if I did I have long forgotten; just remember they taught me to love dancing and rock -n- roll!

JG do you know who the members were in Mossback? There's still a band that shows up on youtube that is called by the same name but is not the same band.
